Momentum for the March 17 mass anti-war protest in Los Angeles is building every day. On March 17, many tens of thousands of people will assemble at 12 noon on the corner of Hollywood and Vine and then march through Hollywood. March 17 is the 4th anniversary of the illegal Iraq war. We'll demand "U.S. Out of Iraq Now!" at this critical time.
The rally will feature live performances from the Grammy-winning band Ozomatli and the legendary Jackson Browne, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There will also be celebrities, community leaders and activists and much more.
45 organizing centers in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico are mobilizing transportation to the LA protest. People are bringing buses, vans, carpools and "peace trains." Many thousands more will come on their own in cars and on public transportation. Students are also taking a leadership role in mobilizing for the LA protest. Students from over 60 schools are actively building March 17.
March 17 in LA will be coordinated with a national march on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and other regional actions. The ANSWER Coalition initiated March 17 nationally; more than 2,000 groups and individuals have endorsed, including Cindy Sheehan, Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic, Academy Award-winning director Paul Haggis, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, United Teachers Los Angeles, Office of the Americas, Veterans for Peace, African Americans Against the War and many others. A large, broad coalition of progressive organizations is building the LA protest.
The LA March 17 protest will be the largest outpouring of anti-war sentiment in the city in recent years. Be a part of this historic action. People are sick and tired of the war and Bush administration's lies. As U.S. troops and innocent Iraqi's die in a colonial war, people at home lack healthcare, jobs and necessary social services. Not one more person should have to die in this illegal, unjust war.
March 17 Los Angeles Coalition includes, ANSWER Coalition, African Americans Against the War, Office of the Americas, American Friends Service Committee, National Council of Arab Americans, Coalition for World Peace, LA-US Labor Against the War, Alliance for Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines, Free Palestine Alliance, GABRIELA Network, Latino Movement USA, National Lawyers Guild, Frente Amplio Progresista-Los Angeles, Nikkei for Civil Rights and Redress, Comite Pro-Democracia en Mexico, Topanga Peace Alliance, Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Veterans for Peace, KmB Pro-People Youth, Korean Americans for Peace, Youth and Student ANSWER, Coalition to End Israeli Apartheid-SoCal, Global Women's Strike, Muslim Student Association-West, Students for Justice in Palestine-UCLA.

I wish ANSWER would organize anti-war protest in front of Disneyland . That will shut down disney for a day . Why ? Disneyland owns ABC news a pro-war newcast . Now that would be much better then protesting a Federal Building or a Hollywood march because you will be affecting profits !
Another Saturday afternoon permit parade. After a full four years of these events with no results to show you think these people would try something different. But stopping the war is not their agenda. Co-opting the date of the 4th year of war and marching people around in circles to hear the same speeches by the same people from last year and the year before that is their plan. The goal of this group and those like them seems to be more designed to derail any grassroots attempts to form a viable anti-war movement.
Those who really want to do something to stop the war will not go this event. Instead they will consider planning a real protest somewhere else away from these people.
Here are some suggestions for people who want to do something to stop the war. (No permit needed)
1. Go to the port and block shipments of arms heading for Iraq and elsewhere.
2. Go to an army recruitment center and occupy it.
3. Go to the offices of corporate war profiteers and prevent them from opening.
4. Disrupt republican and democratic fundraising events.
5. Go the homes of CEOs of the defense industry and disturb them.
If you don’t like any of these ideas think up your own. But make sure that it is a direct action that will in some way delay, disrupt, obstruct or interfere with the daily operation of war in some measurable way. If your action does not meet this criteria then it is merely symbolic and will have very little effect on ending the current war(s) or any future war(s).
Troop Withdrawal Timetables Divide Democrats

March 11, 2007
The campaigning for the 2008 election is off to an early start and the Democrats in both Houses of Congress are using the Iraq War for political leverage to boaster early public support; however Democrats are deeply divided on troop withdrawal timetables, ranging from mid 2007 to various open-ended commitments to continue the war and occupation beyond 2008.
Over 81 percent of all Americans support ending the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan and the Iraq Civil War, and to bring all U.S. troops home; 37 percent support an immediate withdrawal. At the same time that Congress is attempting to develop a workable timetable, legislation is moving ahead to give the Bush administration over $100 billion to continue the war.
Many House Democrats seem to be supportive of legislation that would set guidelines for withdrawal by the fall of 2008, and that timetable could be accelerated to an earlier date if the government of Prime Minister Nourish al-Maliki does not meet certain conditions; such as progress toward providing for his country’s security and a fair system for amending the government’s constitution.
Democratic candidates on the campaign trail for the 2008 election have provided their own timetables ranging from the end of 2007, the schedule proposed by New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson; to January 2009, presented by Senator Hillary Clinton (N.Y.).
While Congress continues to work on a deadline to withdraw troops, the casualties continue to mount on both sides. Since the war began, March 19, 2003, American deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are now more than 3,560, the official count; and Iraqi casualties number more than 660,000, according to non-official accounts. The war has created more than 3.9 million refugees and the cost to rebuild Iraq will exceed $1 trillion.
It is estimated that the war will cost the U.S. government approximately $2 trillion and prolonging the war will pose national and international security risk to American interest at home and abroad.
The majority of left groups and political organizations nationwide are demanding an immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan on a timetable limited to weeks instead of years. The majority of the left groups, excluding the Democrats, support a withdrawal timetable that is tied to impeachment and not the hundreds of billions to fund the war.

Right.
ANSWER supports North Korea- a dictitorial regime wthat dsepreives its citizens of basic human and civil rights. ANSWER supports Islamo-fascist regimes- Hamas and Hezbollah. ANSWER opposes international efforts to curb hte genocide in Darfur.
Richard Becker of International ANSWER declared in October "We are not for peace. We are for the victory of the resistence". Yep.
That gets old for those of us who really believe in peace.
I hope this works

I think there are many things that can be done to end this war.
I don't like dependency on ANSWER or any other group but to say that their demonstrations mean nothing is overly negative.
I agree more ACTIONS should be taken to end this war, but if we can't gather enough people in the streets for speeches and the like we will never have the numbers needed for more direct action. Effective Civil Disobedience takes critical mass.
ANSWER does not control what we do at the protest... for example.. we have passed by CNN numerous times... one of these days WE the people in these protests should organize STOPPING there to demand they cover the TRUTH.. show the realities of war.
When enough people begin to gather in the streets of L.A. we can organize into a more effective group.

USA - A Sh!t Hole Prison State
War is inevitable with man being controlled by lesser beasts.
Therefore, since war is inevitable, we must target our strikes against the cause of wars -- The IT factor or beast that has spread internationally.
Now the USA illegal regime in power wants war with Syria.
Syrian officials have denoted that there will be financial and arms arrangement made with American Expatriates who will kill the IT factor around the globe and in the USA.
The pay is better than what the regime offers us to kill Syrians. Kill the illegal regime and wear the bullet proof vest of a Shiek --- filled with gold.
Damn the regime in power. Let them eat teeth and bleed in the streets and take their fancy cars and burn their houses.
