It's not the 3,000 U.S. dead that are the problem

by Anti-imperialist Wednesday, Jan. 03, 2007 at 11:03 AM

The problem in Iraq is not the 3,000 dead U.S. soldiers, but the 140,000 or so that are still alive and killing.

If the Iraqi resistance had been able to kill 20 or 30 U.S. fighters per day, instead of 2 or 3, perhaps a lot more Iraqis would still be alive.

Of course, it would be better for those soldiers to mutiny than to kill or be killed, but large-scale mutiny is unlikely until they decide that their chances of being killed or maimed are too great to accept.
