Is this a match? Nobody wants to accuse the wrong person. But if it is a match then the cop that tasered the student was at the protest this Friday.

The first photo is a still from the library video posted to this site last week, the second and third photo is of persons at the protest this Friday and believed to be under-covers monitoring the protest. A number of people when shown the photos side by side have said that they are 90% sure that they are photos of the same person.

(1) The faces are identical. (2) The hair is identical. (3) Cops usually wear dark glasses at such events.
I would assume that it is the same person.

That is not a match.
The fascists are refusing to answer questions, I see. They have been trying to hidce the identity of these terrorists though I imagine that the fascists will have to divulge their identities once the crimnial charges work their way through the courts.
God damned fucking Christian mother fuckers!

Hex is right, there is a limit to cell phone image enhancement. His work is helpful. His enhancement is the best one can do with a cell phone photo. Thank you.
The other approach is to reduce the focus of the high res. image to that of the low res image and then compare. The attached is the photo from the rally blurred and color adjusted toward that of the still from the video. The shape of the skull is very close, the hairline seems to match and there are other features that seem to match.
The next step in this analysis would be an overlay of the two images at the same size.
To Rice: Please post your reasons for thinking its not a match.

'overlay of the two images at the same size
I can do that
it looks like him to me though, I'm > 80 % sure
the sunglasses account for the 15 % error, the match would be > 95 % without them.
none of the frames of the cellphone have an exact match for the angle in this picture - to overlay successfully an interpolation between the two frames I posted would have to be done and I don't have the software to do that, the best I can do is a temporal blend..
I can use temporal blending to reduce the artifacts but it wouldn't really help ID him any better
in any case this indicates he was interested/worried enough to attend... he can be seen looking directly at the cellphone camera in a few frames so he definitely knows he was being recorded too
eyewitnesses would be in the best position to ID him - it's known where he works so those witnesses should simply check him out again then obtain his badge #, etc

The guy in uniform and the guy out of uniform not only have the same mouth, but both droop more on his left hand side (your right hand side). They are the same person.

The hair lines don't look the same.
The hair line of the guy in the civilian clothes is clearly receding on both sides. He has a David Letterman squirrel tail in the middle.
Hairline is straight on the cop.
Also the lower lip seems different.

actually when you go frame-by-frame in the video it does look the same - it's just that no single frame clearly shows it due to the poor quality of the video
that's the main thing I was concentrating on - selecting the best frame that shows it - and no single frame does
the frame-by-frame review gives matches on the hairline, head shape, mouth (drooping on his left side as well as pointed out by @) ears and body weight
I tried re-transcoding, resampling and repeated artifact removal passes but could not get a clearer picture and the best 2 frames have already been found & posted above
the original camera video file would be helpful - it's been transcoded onto youtube (VP6 in a SWF container) then I re-transcode it again to MPEG)
if the original has it's frames directly written out to BMP's insted of transcoded twice first there would be less artifacts..

> And HOW CON-VEEEEN-IENT that another student should just HAPPEN to have a video-cellphone handy!
actually there were several people recording it - you can even see a couple of them in this recording
that's a standard feature on many newer phones - we almost got one like that ourselves but decided we didn't need it when I pointed out the picture quality and the fact that we have 3 other much higher quality cameras and 3 just like that (webcam/portable)
my main feature wish list was web browsing, MP3 or better yet AAC+ playing and JAVA so custom programs could be run (most cellphones do have JAVA now even standard ones)
