Video shows racists hanging an effigy of a Moslem.
Anti-racists confronting the group.
And an interview with a member of the mosque.
QuickTime movie at 17.1 mebibytes
The event was widely covered by local TV news crews. No reports of any arrests.

FROM THE VIDEOTAPE: A member of the mosque characterized the protesters as "not knowing what Islam is about." "Everyone is against terrorism," he said.
No one from the protest was interviewed, only members of the mosque and the counter-protest. And yet again, it was impossible to see the signs the protesters held?
Since the crowd chanted at them, calling them "Racists" I wanted to see their racist signs. I wanted to see their racist emblems, and hear their racist accusations.
Stop telling me how racist they are, and start SHOWING me, and other Indymedia-ites how racist they are.

I disagree with anyone who says "Nuke Iran" or any other country for that matter. I was at that protest, saw that sign among hundreds of other signs with different messages.
However, the "Nuke Iran" sign was not at the "Racist" "mob" "attacking" a mosque protest where the main chant was to call the other side "racists" and "an Uncle Tom."
In order to prove your point, you had to go to an entirely different protest, involving a different issue, and select the ONE sign out of hundreds that was offensive.
Here are some other signs from SF on Aug 13th., a protest I WAS at.

It looks like Israel is turning the crank on this event and Ted Hayes is not that cute. Public Relations are important. This is a sorry thread.

The signs that portray the pro-war proi-srael fanatics are here: http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2006/08/12/18296586.php These, plus the sea of jingoistic right wing pus bags waving their american flags reveals who these people are. The propagandists trying to sell you their lies would have you believe that the few the right wing pro-war, pro-israel republicans are not the rule--but they are. Why would they be so desperate as to come try to sell this to you on a radical/left site???? Hmmmmm.

Well, unlike you, I happen to know the people who organized the counterprotest, and they include a former activist from Act up, one of the critical mass organizers, a green paper elected official, and local environmental and feminist activists. Not pro war, not republican.
Next time, ask. Don't assume.

WITHOUT A SCORECARD WRITES: "The propagandists trying to sell you their lies would have you believe that the few the right wing pro-war, pro-israel republicans are not the rule--but they are."
BECKY: If you are painting me with your "propagandist" brush, let me remind you that I am neither "pro-war," nor do I have any connections with "pro-Israel Republicans" or pro-Israel Democrats either. But I don't lie.
I am not infallible. No one is. But when I publish an article or post a comment, it is the truth as I know it at the time. If I later find out I am in error, I am the first to admit it. So if you are waving that broad brush around, stay away from me.
NOTE TO TO BE OR NOT TO BE: As I said before, I was there at the DNK2K in LA. I can confirm pretty much everything Chance Martin said about Ted Hayes and the Dome Village National Homeless Convention. Your link really took me back to the surreal sights and sounds at Dome Village that week. However, they were kind enough to let me take a shower there.
I'd like to correct one point. Hayes led a march of homeless people to "the pit" as part of the only permitted march that evening. As the head of that march, he walked his group into the LAPD police riot, with rubber bullets, tear gas, police horses, and cops swinging batons.
Ted was struck in the chest with a bean bag gun and was briefly treated at a local hospital afterwards. Later, he blamed two kids on the fence who threw EMPTY water bottles over the fence towards hundreds of cops in front of the Staples center, for triggering the riot and exonerated the police.
That's Ted Hayes for you.

Thank you for posting that article. It brought back fond memories. I helped out at that rally- that was the first time I became keenly aware of how far the left had corrupted what used to be a legitimate peace movement. There were attempts to sabotage the bus, physically, as well as attempts to sabotage its appearence in Berkeley. The elderly organizer of the event was physically threated- when that didn't stop the spunky Dachau survivor, they threatened her grandchildren. When threats and intimidation failed to prevent Jerusalem Bus 19 from making its way to Berkeley there were numerous attempts to disrupt the actual event. Nonetheless, it was a resounding sucess, and the broad coalition of Christians, Jews and Hindus that brought Bus 19 to Berkeley have been working together ever since. I am proud to have played a role in that event.

DEBUNKING WRITES: "BECKY's quote:"nor do I have any connections with "pro-Israel Republicans" or pro-Israel Democrats either. But I don't lie."
You just got busted in a lie. Here's abit on you with your friend (and right wing rabid nutcase), Lee Kaplan"
BECKY: No squirming necessary. I am a an associate of Lee Kaplan, who I recruited to debate Scott Kennedy on my television show, Club Cruz.
Your links, which are almost exclusively about or against Lee Kaplan, don't show me with any "pro-Israel Republicans" or even pro-Israel Democrats for that matter. Lee Kaplan has nothing to do with the Republican party. I don't think he even VOTED Republican!
I am a member of Dafka, of which Lee is the Editor in chief of the Dafka site. Lee is also with Stop the ISM, but I have nothing to do with that organization.
Lee Kaplan also is a co-host on my television show. Of the 284 episodes I have taped, perhaps 20 were about Israel or related issues with Lee Kaplan.
So where is my "lie?"
I'm a registered Green and in no way "right-wing" in my politics. Lee and I don't agree on all issues either. I was against the Iraq war, while Lee believed the WMD threat.
I don't agree with Ted Hayes on every issue either.
The one thing Lee and I are in total agreement on, is we are totally opposed to the attack on the State of Israel by leftist "peace" groups. Our mission, is to confront those attacks.
