The anti-immigrant Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, www.minutemanhq.com, have found their way to Pacific Palisades and will be marching in the 4th of July parade.
Mayor Villaraigosa, Councilman Bill Rosendahl, County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, and Assemblywoman Fran Pavley will also be in the parade.
Please flood their offices with calls asking that they request the parade organizers to dis-invite the participation of the Minutemen. Or that they not participate in the parade with the presence of the minutemen.
Antonio Villaraigosa, (213) 978-0600
Bill Rosendahl, (310) 575-8461
Zev Yaroslavsky (213) 974-3333 Fran Pavley (310) 395-3414

I have been unable to find any sort of confirmation of these claims. The Minutemen Web site makes no mention of participating in a parade, neither does the Mayor's site.
The Web site for the Pacific Palisades 4th of July parade ( linked to from the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce site) contains no information about the makeup of the parade. It wouldn't be surprising if Zev Yaroslavksy were in it; since it's part of his district and he has family there, but again, no confirmation seems to be available.
Before we get our knickers in a twist and start hassling the pols with phone calls, how about some evidence that the OP isn't just an exercise in starting rumors for fun and profit?

Now that it's Monday, it's possible to reach relevant sources. I've just spoken with someone at the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce, who confirmed that an application for the parade by the Minutemen had been approved and that they would be marching with a fife and drum corps.
The name on the application was "Minutemen Civil Defense Corps", which corresponds exactly with the anti-immigrant group.
According to the same gentleman, Mayor Villaraigosa's status at the moment is that he won't be there, but that last year they didn't know whether or not the Mayor would be there until the last moment and that in the event he didn't actually ride in the parade- just stopped by for some photographs before heading off to another event.
I'm calling the offices of the polticians cited in the OP.

Pacific Palisades is a town that is comprised of a predominantly white, upper-middle class. But it is run by workers who do not live in the Palisades, who are predominantly Latin American and likely lack documentation.
This ought to be quite a spectacle; White-Supremacists trying to convince wealthy white people that their Nanny's are the reason we don't have healthcare and the reason they can't get a job.

It is an AMERICAN Fourth of July Parade. The Minutemen and Women are Americans. Illegal aliens are not Americans! Niether they nor their supporters belong in any American Patriotic Parade!

As an American citizen, I don't mind if supporters of those here against immigration laws march in the parades. There are valid arguments for why they should be given a chance to become citizens. Since this involves the USA itself, let them march in 4th of July parades. "American rights" do not override human rights. Being human is enough to exercise free speech.

Thanks for the update, My 2 cents . FYI, neither I nor any of the anti-minutemen crowd would participate in a parade like that anyway. So go Fuck yourself.

All humans have the right to do what they want even if it is against U.S. laws.
No laws, one world, smash the borders!
Lets all hunt and gather berries in the woods like they did 50,000 years ago!
Cliff May will be our Queen!

Well someone here doesn't have an open mind. Would I come here illegally to work for unfairly low wages to keep myself and my family alive? You bet I would. It's a matter of human life. And no I wouldn't cause harm to anyone. A well kept garden or clean restrooms maybe. But not harm. I can't blame people for avoiding death.

They're not dying. They're not starving. Don't be such a drama queen.
They're coming here to make more money than they can back home. They just want a new car and a big screen TV.

This is really sad. I counted about 3 dozen websites that someone had posted "Alert minutemen to be in July 4th parade. No doubt many of these people will be in Lake Forest or Pacific Palisades tommorrow, spending their holiday jeering at people they happen disagree with.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the vast majority of those jeering crowds wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near a community July fourth celebration if SOS didn't decide to be there. Call it a hunch.
And already you are trying to shut down SOS's freedom of expression by getting them kicked out of the parade. If they do get to march, the braver of you will be out there Tuesday shouting obsenities and doing your best to expouse yourselves as the little punk-ass bitches and wannnabe thugs you are, lacking the courage to kick an old man off his walker unless you outnumber him by at least fifty to one and first cover your face with a bandana. Like Frederic/ Nice say only my opinion and my opinion only. But I have lots of evidence.
So tommorrow when the family comes by to bar-b-que and play in the pool. I will maybe call old Marine buddies and hopefully get a call from my son who is doing convoy escorts in Iraq. I'll have a few beers, laugh with my neighbors and friends. I'll while away the day and no doubt around 10 I'll switch on the TV and with any luck hear about how you made asses of yourself. trying to stop some middle aged men from walking down a street in a parade.

I find it utterly hypocritical for European descendants of immigrants whose ancestors committed heinous crimes of genocide against indigenous peoples of this land in order to steal possession of the land to now turn around and claim to take the moral high ground by presecuting those trying to survive. It is also arrogant to deny that the high living standard enjoyed by so many European invaders is due to the labor of immigrants and the working class. If our country's foreign policy addressed equitabale economic systems internationally, I dare say fewer people would take the risks involved with leaving their homelands. Instead, our corporations, aided by our government, choose to maximize profits abroad, at the expense of peoples' lives, driving them to desperation. Here in the U.S., our artificially constructed laws are designed to perpetuate the system of exploitation and repression. The rising lack of compassion reflected in our society is a disturbing sign of growing fascism.

>I can't blame people for avoiding death.
Sure you can: "You've worked to avoid death, and in the process, broke the law. Everything bad is your fault, because, according to my logic, anyone who breaks a law is the prime cause of the ills of society."
