reports from the south central farm are that the police in riot gear are now arresting and using batons against the supporters of the farm.
greetings everyone,
the day we hoped would not come has arrived. this morning, a little after 5 am, the sherriffs department started the unjust eviction of the southcentral farmers. They entered the farm and started the process of forcefully evicting the hundreds of compas that are encamped and chained inside the 14 acre farm in southcentral farm.
The police in order to stop support from arriving to the farm have tried to close down streets and intimidate supporters who are arriving from all over the state. Reports since 5 am have included the arrival of several trucks and bulldozers that are ready to enter the farm.
a recent update by a member of the autonomous peoples collective states that people outside of the farm are starting peaceful civil disobedience and are blocking the 41st and alameda entrance from further police presence. there is an increasing amount of media, supporters and others who are joining in the effort to save the largest urban farm in the country. Mainstream media reports from helicopters show the sherrifs department using chainsaws to cut concrete in a very dangerous fashion next to civillians inside the farm.
The autonomous peoples collective is making the call for supporters and observers to come and help with saving the farm. if you cannot make it to the farm, please go to the mayors office/city hall for a sit in. there are also reports of many affinity groups protesting around the farm. Lets make it clear to horowitz and the city that the farm is for the people who work the land.
i have just received news that the police are now pushing back the supporters and are using battons to arrest and take the protesters outside the farm. the situation is now escalating to the police repression.
updates will come throughout the day.
peace,
ps.
please call the mayors office and jan perry's office telling them to support and withdraw the officers from the area.
