The largest and oldest black-owned newspaper on the west coast has endorsed a Green for Congress in the San Gabriel Valley, giving the nod to former Pasadena Mayor Bill Paparian over the Democrat incumbent.
The paper, in endorsing Paparian and a slate of other candidates, wrote:
The Los Angeles Sentinel values public service and those who serve their communities honorably. It is for this reason that we support these candidates who will provide the kind of leadership and public policy that will positively affect the quality of life for their communities. We therefore urge you to support the following candidates: *** Bill Paparian -- U.S. Rep. 29th Dist.
****
The paper took the unusual step of not endorsing the democrat incumbent, Adam Schiff.
A central feature of Paparian's campaign is that the incumbent is out of touch with the people of his district and has voted to support the war and participated in the creation of Patriot Act.
The 29th Congressional District includes Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale and other areas adjacent.
