ANTI-RACIST PROTESTORS DEFEAT THE MINUTMEN IN LA
Amnesty Now! Full Rights for All Immigrants!

On Sunday, May 21, around 300 pro-immigrant protestors, including a very large delegation from the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition, demonstrated against around 50 to 60 members and supporters of the racist Minuteman project in downtown Los Angeles. The Minutemen had called a "Civil Rights" march to begin at Olympic and Broadway, the historic starting point of many immigrant rights and anti-war protests in recent months and years. Dubbing their hateful action a march for "Civil Rights" was an outrageous lie. Their sole aim is to prevent immigrants from gaining the Civil Rights they deserve.

As the Minutemen started their procession, guarded by dozens of riot police, anti-racist protestors swarmed around them on both sides of the street, chanting loudly and holding pro-immigrant signs and banners. The thousands of mostly Latino shoppers and passersby showed their support for the anti-Minutemen action, many of whom chanted with the pro-immigrant protestors and even joined us as we marched up Broadway to City Hall. Chants in English and Spanish like "Down with the Minutemen! Up with the people!" and "Minutemen racistas, son los terroristas!" rang out, drowning out the pathetic taunts of the racist Minutemen.

The multinational crowd of progressives showed their strength and unity against racism. While the Minutemen carried hateful signs calling immigrants "illegal," progressive banners read "Alto a la guerra contra los inmigrantes," "Say NO to racism," "Amistía," "The workers struggle has no borders" and more.

The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition prepared for the anti-Minutemen action by passing out thousands of flyers downtown in the days leading up to the protest. During the march, A.N.S.W.E.R. activists passed out thousands more flyers to notify the people in the area about what was happening and urging them to support the protest against the Minutemen racists.

After the march reached City Hall and many Minutemen had fled the area, the people declared victory over the racist forces in downtown LA. Protestors left with a feeling of shared struggle against the right-wing criminals who are working with the Bush administration, other ruling class politicians and Corporate America in a coordinated attempt to stop the immigrant struggle for full equality.

The anti-Minutemen protest was featured prominently on local television and print media outlets, including the LA Times, NBC, CBS, Telemundo and Unavision. The LA-based Spanish-language daily La Opinión has a featured story in Monday's edition about the protest. Read the La Opinión report.

Aliens are people who come from another sovereign nation, their Raza has nothing to do with if they are illegal or not. Illegal aliens are uninvited trespassers this is where the word “Illegal” applies to the alien.

But Every Nation on the face of this earth has a right and duty too and does say who comes into their country, for an example. Go out and get a DUI then try to go to Canada or and EU Nation just on a vacation. What you will find when you get to the border the Canadian guards German guards what ever guards will run your drivers license number find you to be a drunk driver then send you packing back to from wince you came. Convicted of DUI Americans no mater what race have lost their ability to travel to Europe and Canada just for a vacation let alone move there. Did you know that?

How can they do this to people just going on a vacation? Easy, it’s their country and they can do what they want! I don’t like being turned away from Canada for 20 year old DUI for gods sake but what do I do?

I could sneak into Canada with other drunk drivers and have a big protest but I know full well how far that will get me with the Canadians. I most likely would end up in jail for entering their nation illegally then face the charges for protesting something I have no right to say! My fellow Protesters and I would end up back in the USA with a Canadian criminal record.

in 1st of may, I saw irish, blacks, asian, arabs, jews, whites. on the first march it was mostly latinos and mexicans, and the second march you see more diversity of people.

I was raised by Guatemalans & Mexicans on the streets of L.A., literally. In two years, by the time I was 5 years old, I learned to speak English in time for Kindergarten at Raymond Avenue Elementary School in South Central. The rest of my family learned to speak English as well.

When we Marched up Broadway in L.A. on May 21 through you fools. We took a lot of shit from you racists. "Go back to Europe and take the Niggers with you!"

I ran the streets in L.A. with Blacks & Mexicans and a few Whites. We had Florence Avenue from Vermont to Western, and 66th to 77th streets. We tore shit up as kids growing up, "together".

We did not take outsiders lightly. They were immediately challenged as you fools are being challenged now for being out of bounds. You fools have intruded and polluted. You've invaded and debated on weak grounds. You will soon be stepped up to in such a way that will burst the bubble you fools hatredly live in.
