BREAKING: 11:45 am - Immigrants rights protesters countering anti-immigrant rally

11:45 am: A call from a reliable LA-IMC reporter at the downtown anti-immigrant rally reports there are about 80 Minutemen and SOS supporters and about 100 counter demonstrators at Olympic and Broadway. About 30 police are keeping the groups separated and are facing outward toward the immigrants rights counter protesters. Large number of local TV news media are there mostly covering the anti-immigrant group.

Immigrants rights supports have dogged the anti-immigrants’ march down Broadway. Caller reports march now at 1st & Spring. Police keeping two groups apart. Megaphones of immigrant rights counters heard very loud in background. Anti-immigrants now approaching city hall for rally.

2:10 pm - Update: Anti-immigrants at city hall, staging a small rally of 40, rally coming to an end. Crowd thinning out, only about 40 left on both sides. Counters also holding small rally. Small group of antis said to be planning to march back to Olympic. No incidents or arrests reported.

2:45 pm - Another caller from the scene reports that the anti-immigrants rally is over and they are dispersing. Caller put the number of counters higher around 150 and number of anti-immigrants at 75. Caller reports that close to 100 riot police were needed to escort the anti-immigrant march. Immigrant rights supporters were able to stage counter march around the police escort down Broadway. But Immigrant rights supporters were keep too far away from Antis rally to be able to counter it.

3:45 pm – A caller at 3rd & Broadway reports a small group of 25 anti-immigrant MM/SOS are being escorted by police back to the march start point at Olympic. They are surrounded by 20 police squad cars. Immigrant rights counters are following. One arrest has been reported, reporter unable get details of the arrest at this time.

4:25 pm - Arrests now total three: LA-IMC reporter reports 2 more arrests, that occurred earlier in the day, no details. Another caller reports anti-immigrant group now back at Olympic, being escorted to their cars by police. Immigrant rights counters still protesting and claiming victory for a successful counter demonstration.
