AUDIO: An interview with Bob McCloskey, Peace Activist & Candidate for Congress

by A Friday, May. 19, 2006 at 12:56 PM

Bob McCloskey is challenging Democratic incumbent Adam Schiff in California’s 29th district on his pro-war stance and his support for Bush’s policies in the primaries this June 6th. Voters in the 29th district who want peace and an end to the war in Iraq will have the opportunity to vote for some one who will take that message to the congress.

http://la.indymedia.org/uploads/2006/05/bob_mccloskey.mp3

McCloskey is running a grassroots insurgent campaign against the incumbent of his party in an attempt to as he puts it, “take back the house”. The 29th District is considered a safe district for the Democrats. Still Adam Schiff’s voting record as been at odds with the rank and file of his party and the majority of voters in his district.

McCloskey hopes to truly represent the people of his district and he is not afraid to speak out against the policies of the Bush Administration.

Why this endorsement?

by Indymedianot Sunday, May. 21, 2006 at 6:47 AM

Why is Indy media endorsing a Democrat? It looks like this article was hard work, but is this the principals INDY media was founded on? A platform for Demos? Unfortunately, this reporter is showing his hairline get a toupe or get rid of this article!

DemoWhat?

by Why? Monday, May. 22, 2006 at 8:13 AM

Why did you erase comments asking IMC why they are endorsing democrats? I am shocked! Indy should not be endorsing Democrats in elections, and they certainly shouldn't be erasing comments that questions this practice. Shame on you behind the curtain.

DemoWhy

by Why? Monday, May. 22, 2006 at 8:16 AM

Perhaps you could follow him on the campaign trail! Hey, who's running for President for the Demos? Perhaps you could hook up with his campaign!

How Soon we Forget

by johnk Saturday, Jun. 03, 2006 at 12:14 PM

IMC in LA started around the 2000 DNC, and was kind of in support of Nader. It was friendly territory for Nader, for sure.

Then a few years later, it was either Nader/Camejo, or Kucinich.

Lately, it seems to be all about Marcy Winograd.

see a pattern

by Sheepdog Saturday, Jun. 03, 2006 at 12:28 PM

Nader makes far too much sense.
He is #1 to keep away from the stage.
Everybody trashes him. If he runs again, I'll vote for him.
As a write in if necessary.

Note

by johnk Saturday, Jun. 03, 2006 at 12:34 PM

I forgot to add that Bob's challenger in the district, Bill Paparian, is also progressive. Paparian represented Josh Connole when the FBI were on his ass. Lynda Llamas is running for P&F. They all kind of have the same vibe, and are all going hard after Adam Schiff, a centrist from the traditionally Republican base of Burbank/Glendale. Bob and Lynda are in the more southern parts of the west SGV, which is kind of like East LA crossed with Pasadena crossed with Chinatown. (Burbank and Glendale are changing too.)

If McClosky manages to get good numbers, Paparian said he's join his campaign.

I think people see Schiff as a good target. Gerrymandering may have opened him up to attack from the left.
