Mini-nukes.....

Mini-nukes and there consequences

Mini-nukes and Their Consequences.

Let me start by saying that the nickname of tactical nuclear weapons or "mini-nukes is very misleading. This makes them seem small and almost harmless. Our government has declared them safe for civilians which is a farce. These weapons are anything but harmless, the smallest of these weapons is 1/3 the size of the Hiroshima bomb and the largest is 6 times the capacity of that same bomb. 6x larger than the Hiroshima bomb, 6x larger than a bomb that leveled an entire city ! Funding for these weapons was voted down in Defense appropriations, so it was secretly tucked inside of an energy appropriation bill. With all the problems currently being generated by the high prices of fuel oil, why would you spend our energy money for illegal weapons ? The 14 million was supposed to be for studies only but has been used for research and development. (Congressional record, Senate 9/15/03) So our government basically built these mini-nukes without anyone's consent. Our government is building tactical battlefield nuclear weapons with funds that were NEVER APPROPRIATED!

Before I continue I would like to repeat myself (again) the largest mini-nuke is 6 times larger than the Hiroshima bomb. To get a feel for this I'd like to add this dramatic statement by Sen. Diane Feinstein about the destructive power of these weapons . " Nearly 60 years ago, our world was introduced to nuclear weapons. I was 12 years old when the Engola Gay left our shores. I saw a 15-kiloton bomb destroy Hiroshima. It killed 140,000 people- just that bomb killed 140,000 people. A 21-kiloton bomb then destroyed Nagasaki, killing 80,000 people. Two bombs, 220,000 people dead, and the largest pattern of destruction the world has ever seen......" ( C.R. 9/15/03 ) It must also be noted that these are the only two nuclear weapons ever used in the history of humanity. The only other nuclear weapons ever used are shells lined with depleted uranium. These are still being used today in Iraq. These weapons put the civilian population of Iraq and out troops in grave danger. The left over uranium stays in the ground and the water for 4.5 BILLION years. We can not afford another nuclear first for this first will threaten us all. If we are the first to use battle field nuclear weapons in the middle east and it will end our way of life the way we know it. Our government's nuclear whims have no regard for and of the worlds peaceful and hard working citizens and it's time to tell them no!

There are those who say that I'm being alarmist or that I shouldn't worry our military knows what it is doing. I say to them the Commander in Chief is irresponsible and the civilian leader of the military is irresponsible. They have both proven that neither of them is competent. It should also worry Americans that the civilian leader of the military makes millions off of weapons sales. We have civilians running the military and military men running all the civilian spy agencies, this should concern us all. Pres Bush is planning to start a nuclear assault against Iran. He is pursuing this with zealous and determination, according to the New Yorker ( 4/17/06 ) Bush claims that "he must do what no Democrat or Republican, if elected in the future, would have the courage to do." He went on to say, "saving Iran would be his legacy." In my opinion Pres. Bush is to much of a novice to understand the repercussions of using a nuclear weapon, in the Middle East, against a Muslim nation. It almost seems like some in our government are looking to start WW3. If we were foolish enough to use nuclear weapons on Iran this would cause both Russia and China into this conflict. Do we have enough children to fight the entire Muslim world, Russia and China? What will become of the millions on Muslims that live in America? Don't force anyone to chose between God and country because you won't like the choice made. Both China and Russia rely heavily on Iran for their oil needs. This conflict would also leave the greedy Saudi Royal family in control of the worlds only stable source of middle east oil. If this happens they can name their own price per-barrel and the world will have to pay it. That will make a lot of Saudis and American oil men very rich but it's very bad for everyone else. Let me leave you with this comment made by British Defense Minister Jack Straw when asked about the use of Mini-nukes against Iran he said on CNN "The Idea of using a nuclear weapon in the middle East is completely NUTS!" I couldn't agree more..... Let me know what you think jameskurka@hotmail.com
