JOIN US TO HELP STOP THE CAMPAIGN OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TERROR AGAINST IMMIGRANTS IN COSTA MESA! When: Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 Where: Skosh Monahan's Steakhouse and Irish Pub, 2000 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa (on the corner of Newport Blvd and 20th) Time: 5:PM - 11:PM Organized by: COLECTIVO TONANTZIN Fighting for rights of all undocumented workers!!! Info: Coyotl, (714) 299-8817 matlazinka68@yahoo.com Bring signs, cameras, friends and family BACKGROUND: COSTA MESA CITY COUNCIL MEMBER GARY MONAHAN PROFITS FROM HIS IMMIGRANT HERITAGE, BUT HE VOTED TO MAKE MEXICANS AND CENTRO-AMERICANOS SUFFER FOR THEIRS. AS OWNER OF SKOSH MONAHAN'S STEAKHOUSE AND IRISH PUB IN COSTA MESA, MONAHAN MAKES FINANCIAL GAIN FROM THE LABOR OF THE SAME IMMIGRANTS HE EXPLOITS FOR POLITICAL GAIN! As a result of the anti-immigrant policies of the Costa Mesa city council's ruling troika (Mayor Allan Mansoor and Eric Bever are the others), Chicano residents of the city are reportedly avoiding normal activities like going outside or shopping for fear of being harassed swept up by Costa Mesa police. Some local business owners report that business is down by 30 percent. This is the direct result of policies that are not only unjust but unnecessary from a law enforcement perspective--policies that not even the Costa Mesa police chief supports, although he feels legally bound to follow them. Costa Mesa- Authorities found and detained 19 illegal immigrants after an anonymous caller said his cousin was taken at gunpoint and forced into a van by "coyotes."
The California Highway Patrol deemed the call a high priority and acted immediately. The term "coyote" refers to a person who assists illegal aliens in crossing the border
We received a dispatch call where the reporting party advised that his cousin was in a van with coyotes. I'm sure there's more to the story. He said the deal had gone bad and the coyotes took his cousin by force, possibly with a weapon," Officer Tony Nguyen of the Rancho Cucamonga CHP station said.
Once the vehicle was stopped, several CHP units assisted in interviewing the 19 illegal aliens.
"No one reported being there against their will. Upon interviewing all the parties, basically they were turned over to Border Patrol," Nguyen said.
He said he was unsure whether a weapon was found in the vehicle.
Nicholas Coates, a public information officer for the San Diego Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol, said his agency responded to a call for assistance from the CHP.
"We arrived on scene and took 19 people into custody. They were taken to Temecula border patrol where they were processed," Coates said. "Any number of things can happen to them depending on their background and criminal history."

John Earl got some nice footage of Jim Gilchrist in his usual angry ranting. I guess that's what happens when someone wants to ask questions. Well I'd like to ask him why he let that guy who's appearance is that of a skinhead pass out National Alliance flyers at the Sacramento rally. Incase anyone thinks I'm nuts, here's a photo I found. I'm looking for more. In the background, as indicated by my super Photoshop skilled arrow, is the skinhead looking guy I encountered. I'd like to ask Jim why he was able to enjoy the same police protection from protesters we had. Wouldn't Jim oppose that like any good American would? Instead he said "we decided to let that go" while the Anarchists and other protesters were kept away. Hmmmm.

Sorry, getting back on the main topic, it seems Gilchrist's Minutemen and SOS and the rest just makes things worse for bystanders. I mean, you've got day labor pick up sites. Some aren't established, meaning it's loitering. But when Gilchrist and his folks protest and take photos, it causes even more commotion. I've personally seen motorists get bothered by cameras taking photographs because anything even happens.
Protesters go to that restaurant and protest. Then of course Gilchrist's folks want to come and cause shouting and make things worse. Way to go, what a way to help this country. Causing a nuisance in public. Way to go Gilchrist, you fool.

Lelgally this whitey cannot stop us from eating at the place. If we can dress up as farm labor, go in, and converse with the staff only in spanish, they legally can't do nothing agaist us. It will also cause his regulars to leave since they tend not to associate in non-white bars. This would be a modern day sit-in.

Monahan credits the success of his restaurant to his staff, which includes executive chef Miguel Santiago, formerly of Jack Rose in Long Beach, and chefs Juanito Cantoran and Francisco Castro.

Rancho Cucamonga and Costa Mesa are about 100 miles apart. I think you need a map.
The owner of a business does have the right to refuse service to anyone. If you go in and cause a disruption he is going to have you removed. If you go in and buy the minimum you have the right to be there.
Causing a problem will only invite a sympathetic response from people.
As far as his staff being Hispanic I don't see the connection between them and the cause of having suspected felon foreign nationals detained by the immigration authorities (ICE). Could it be he hired the most qualified people he could find? I think that might defeat the racist argument.

It depends on why he is refusing service, if it is because of a obvious disruption then yes he has the right to refuse service, but on the other hand he cannot refuse service based on race. A patron communicating with staff in spanish is an everyday thing in california, if that patron does it politely whats the problem? Holding a casual conversation at a restraunt is also commonplace, theres no law that says that conversation must be in English. An effective action can take place without being overly dramatic, no need for a bullhorn in restraunt.

You're not understanding the argument. On the one hand, Monahan is supporting racial targeting of Mexicans, and on the other, he's profiting off Mexican or Centro-American labor.
You can hire the best qualified regardless of race, but, if you're taking advantage of a racist situation, and not trying to end racism, you're implicated. In this situation, Monahan is *creating* and *extending* the racist situation, and then, turning around and profiting from it.
It's kind of like the old (and current) "protection racket", where the gangsters go to people and demand money for "protection" from outside gangs breaking windows. The gangsters selling protection broke windows in the first place. What Monahan is doing isn't so overtly offensive, because it's not destructive... and Monahan is enlarging his profits, so it has a patina of "goodness" to it.

johnk, you are missing the fact, that Costa Mesa's Plan, will be applied proportionally to the contribution of criminal activity, by each ethinicity. IF your race don't to the crime, then your race don't go to jail. If your race do the crime and go to jail, then you serve your time. After serving your time, if they find you are an illegal ailien, then rather than putting your convict ass on the streets of the USA, they deport your ass. So you better keep your ass clean. Dig it?

What do proportions and probability have to do with how Monahan is rigging the system in his favor?
Isn't he a little like Strom Thurmond, who was an ardent segregationist, but fathered an African American child and kept her secret? Just a little?

yes, I have read the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill of Rights, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and a few others. What is your question?
Concentration camps or temporary detention facilities, can be can be built or improvised quickly or prepared in advance, making them viable options, to the "catch-and-release" of OTMs, who are allowed to flood our streets. Some sites have been sub-contracted with all underground utilites installed. These sites can hold a hundred-thousand people, each.
From my military service, I can tell you the government and military is all about "contingency planning". I have seen plans, estimating the daily population of a military base, how to use the cold-storage rooms as temporary morgues, and how to turn the on-base golf course into mass graves.
So, don't be surprised, if some local spots or buildings, become temporary detention centers for processing prisoners. Some of these are hidden in plain site, openly accessible, and you see them everyday. Some are in the backside of town, or not near the population centers. There are thousands of spots, nation-wide. I know how to find them.
I hope you know how to saw wood and swing a hammer, because, most likely, you would be taken to a fenced in area, and given the tools and materials to build shelters for the camp, you and others will occupy.
