its 1984

its 1984

download PDF (688.3 kibibytes)

This is one of my favorite. Go online and find 1984 by George Orwell... or relevant articles in the media (usually alternative) and printout out sections (with citations) and place them in public view. In the case of 1984 with notes referring to the Amerikan Fascist system we are in. For example find the section with Goldstein and two minutes of hate. Then write about it Bin Laden.

some remaining sites with 1984 at them (most sites have vanished over the last year):

www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984

www.prisonplanet.tv/articles/december2004/111204orwell1984.htm

oh and here is how you can make it "stick" in an elevator door, public bathroom stall, smoking area, in a phone booth, at a bus stop....

Ingredients:

1 cup of wheat flour

1/2 cup of rice flour

3 teaspoons of cornstarch

2 cups of water

Combine wheat flour, rice flour, and water in a pot on the stove on low heat. The mixture should be very watery. Stir the mixture constantly with a wire whisk until the paste begins to thicken just a tiny, tiny bit. This may take about ten minutes. Take the pot off of the heat when you start to feel the mixture thickening. In a jar with a lid, combine three teaspoons of cornstarch with a half of a cup of water. Tighten the lid and shake the mixture until there are no lumps of cornstarch that are visible. Add the cornstarch mixture to the flour mixture and stir for another two minutes. Now you are done. Your arm may get tired, so I suggest that you do this with someone else so that you can switch off stirring.

I cannot emphasize the importance of stirring enough. Yes, it is tiring, but don't stop.

Wheat paste is the best way to put up PERMANENT posters. If you have a message that you don't want taken down, wheat paste it!!! It may take you a few tries to get just the right mixture, but once you do, it's way better than Super Glue.

by Confused Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at 3:47 PM

I am sure you enjoy the writings of Goldstien however, advocating the defacing of public and private property to push some agenda or ideaology is not the right thing to do.

Can I come to your home a paste posters all over your walls? Think about it.

This is an invalid analogy. His home is not a public space. Elevators, public bathrooms, smoking areas, phone booths, and bus stops are.

I would not say it is a invalid anology.

"Elevators, public bathrooms, smoking areas, phone booths, and bus stops"

Is any of your above list private properties with public access?

I would say my question is completely valid. Someone owns the property other than the person who wants to deface it. Wall paper your own walls if you wish or buy billboard space.

So the tax payer, who owns the property, should have to spend money to clean up your mess because you cannot come up with a legal or any other creative way (other than defacing property) of getting your message out. Buy billboard space, buy commercial time, create a website, learn marketing, etc.

No debate? I know its difficult to except logic, but come on, use the gray matter between your ears. What you are advocating is something I expect from a teenager that dosen't think things through. Your also advocating for people to violate the law. Are you going to pay there fines or serve there jail time if they get caught. Regardless of the message, it kind of gets lost when you advocate this type of behaivor.

If you want our rulers to heed your pleas, fall on your knees first and worship them like gods. Lick their boots, and grovel like a whipped cur. Never, never, never stoop to the level of violence. Don't throw tea into the harbor. Don't drive the money changers from the temple with a whip. And if a bunch of redcoats come to grab your guns, don't shoot back. Hand them over promptly, while singing "God Save the King" (or "My Country Tis of Thee" or "Heil Dir in Seigerkranz" or whatever they call it where you live).

Confused... you're arguing with people who do not understand and do not accept the concept of private property. This is because they've never accomplished enough to actually own any. If one of them gets very lucky (because none of them are productive) he may one day own something of serious value, like a house. When some socialist high schooler feels the need to spray paint the words "FASCIST SCUM" on the front of his house... THEN he will understand the concept of private property. They aren't bright enough to learn this concept any other way. It's inherent value completely eludes them (as do most basic principles).

I am not for or against your views for I am not up on them however, defacing or destroying property is not a solution.

Is This the Dawn of an Orwellian Police State?

Author: Stephen DeVoy

September 18, 2001

A week has passed since the horrific attack upon the United States by Middle Eastern terrorists.  Our nation's sadness is turning to anger.  With rightful indignation there are calls for a war in defense of our people.  Anarchists are not pacifists.  As rational anarchists we call for the defense of our homeland.

Many unethical individuals have come forth in the hope to exploit this terrible tragedy to the profit of their own agenda.  Right wing Christian, Jerry Falwell, has blamed this attack on God's wrath - a divine retaliation against a liberal society.  Anti-immigrant activists and politicians have demanded steps to rid our land of foreign peoples.  Racists have attacked Arabs, Muslims, and anyone who looks like them.  Law enforcement spokesmen have called for greater powers of control over the lives of citizens.  Zionists have attempted to stir anti-Arab sentiment while white racists have attempted to stir anti-Jewish sentiment.  Airlines have exploited the tragedy as a means to transfer wealth from the people to their corporations.  As I write, the United States Government has begun to exploit the fear provoked by this attack to reduce the rights of its citizens and to destroy the Bill of Rights.

The President has stated that we are at war, but no war has been formally declared.  The administration has declared restrictions on the press and announced that this war will be fought in secret.  The ambiguously declared war is targeted at a concept sufficiently wide that it is unclear where the bounds between an enemy and an ally are drawn.  Just what is meant by "Terrorism?"  What distinguishes between an enemy terrorist and a friendly freedom fighter?  What is meant by "supporter of terrorism?"  Is an entity a supporter of terrorism only if one gives material aid to a terrorist or  does a "supporter of terrorism" include all individuals who share their beliefs?

At the dawn of an undeclared secret war on an ambiguously defined enemy, there are calls to suspend the fourth amendment, force all Americans to carry national ID cards, track the movements of citizens, deport foreigners, monitor communications, report suspicious individuals, and to trust in the Government.  The press and media have fed the American people a steady stream of images of the man that we are to hate: Osama bin-Laden.  The press and the media have suggested to the people that "everything has changed forever," and called for flexibility on sacrifices of liberty.

I cannot help to be reminded of George Orwell's "1984," where hapless citizens are subjected to complete control and monitoring in the name of security against an ambiguous enemy engaged in terrorist attacks against the population.  I cannot help to be reminded of the book's hate sessions where everyone must view the telescreen for "three minutes of hate," as the terrorist leader is displayed.  Are we on the precipice of the Orwellian abyss?

I was once required to take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  A foreign enemy has declared his intent with an undeniable attack upon innocent Americans.  We must fight to defend ourselves.  However, we must not lose sight of the rights that our war seeks to defend.  Do not let your government become the domestic enemy!  Do not cower in fear as zealots take your freedom in small or large steps!  All Americans must make it clear that the only society worth defending is a free society.  Speak before it is too late.

Defacement and Anarch

by johnk, anti-surface activist Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006 at 9:54 AM

Anarchists don't generally support the destruction of vandalism of homes, or even businesses. Billboards are different, because they are surfaces used for advertising, intruding on your visual field with messages. Billboards are protected by private property laws that allow you to build vertically, and because writing over the ad on the billboard constitutes trespass.

The first amendment comes into play, too. The one twist here is that the law will protect the rights of the propert owner, but does not extend the right of speech to someone who wishes to comment on the property owner's speech.

I think it's a gray area. The billboard is private property, but, derives its value (as a billboard) from the fact that it's near, or part of the public space (like freeways and roads). Typically, cities regulate billboards, because it's a kind of land use, and some cities have laws about aesthetics.

An anarchist solution is direct action, removing the process of going through the local government. I think the action would be to destroy the billboard, so the billboard business appears risky, and no more are created. You could call this the Billboard Abatement Program, or something bureaucratic like that. It would be partnered with the Graffiti Abatement Program. They could merge into the Flat Surface Abatement Program, that would work to cause surfaces to be curved, bumpy, zigzagged, or otherwise textured so they could not hold large, flat images.

reports that it has sucessfully

maneuvered a Lexus into a brick

wall, liberating the fractal nature

of the wall, and eliminating the

flat surface as a potential site

for advertising. The choice of

a Lexus was fortuitous, but positively

contributed to the overall effect

by destroying an object possessed

of so much meaning about industrial

culture, wealth, energy, and power.

We demand that the wall not be

repaired, but reinforced, to hold

up the rest of the building. We

intend to destroy the upper wall

above the gaping hole after

reinforcements are installed.

MEXICO GAS LINE EXPLOSIONS FORCE MAJOR FACTORIES TO CLOSE DOWN(snip)

I can’t think of a time in history when the individual insurgent has had such an incredible asymmetric advantage over his opponent. Hierarchical dominator systems—now enjoying primacy on a global scale—exist atop a delicate grid of undefended energy and information infrastructures. With just a bit of intelligent planning, today’s insurgent can turn a small improvised explosive into a weapon of mass profit destruction. Killing soldiers and cops is a waste of time and energy. Killing profits does far more damage to the enemy than killing any number of troops.

Different societies and opponents, however, lend themselves to different forms of asymmetric warfare.

In America (and wealthier parts of the “West” in general), people don’t have to blow up a natural gas pipeline and shut down a factory or cut enough fiber to crash the NYSE and the NASDAQ market systems for a few minutes, hours or days. Voluntary simplicity, or, living well on very little money, kicks evil people in the nuts and gouges out their eyes. (Pacifists may think of this as sending the enemy Joy and Happiness if they desire.) Doing this in the U.S. has a force multiplier effect because the U.S. is the largest source of the funds that keep the global ponzi scheme running. When people in wealthy countries opt out, the action causes major economic damage to the machine.

Look at me and Rebecca. In the “normal” world, in our “normal” careers, we would have an annual combined income of roughly US0,000. What horror would the U.S. government commit with the portion of the taxes it would demand from us? We now live well on a tiny fraction of what we would make in our “normal” careers. We have no debt. We own our small farm and our vehicles outright. We convert what’s left over at the end of the month into cash savings and gold. We also give money to people who are doing good work.

Whether you decide to leave the U.S. (like we did), or not, doesn’t matter. Living well on very little, encouraging others to do the same and actually funding people who are doing good work (allocating resources to values) are the main tactics of the frugal insurgent.

There’s a big difference between choosing to live well on a low income, on your terms, and being broke on someone else’s. My friend TR summed it up this way: “It’s easier to out through the bottom than the top.”

It’s true.

It’s a matter of hacking The Matrix in an efficient and innovative manner to reduce your monthly expenses to a fraction of previous levels. The extraction/domination system in the U.S. has few effective defenses against people who opt out—to the extent possible—by making smart use of available resources. The system assumes that you’ll stay hooked forever on a lifestyle built around profligate waste and going deep into debt to buy crap that you don’t really want, or need. Indeed, most people are content to go through life this way.

Living simply on very little money kills the system slowly. This is actually a good thing. Why don’t I advocate all out war against the many Achilles heels in the infrastructure of the American Corporate State? It’s simple really: nuclear weapons.

Threaten the system too fast and too effectively and the release of nuclear weapons becomes increasingly likely. The U.S. is not going to simply fade away without a fight. The greatest trick of all for U.S. Military commanders will be to prevent the release of nuclear weapons as U.S. power declines.

After so many decades of genocide and theft, the U.S. has made many, very real enemies. Those enemies might use sudden infrastructure collapse as an opportunity to deliver a kill shot to the U.S. The chances of cooler heads prevailing in the U.S. will be lower with massive infrastructure attacks threatening the country. Such attacks could easily be perceived as the opening phases of a Strategic Information Warfare campaign by a foreign military.

Therefore, while it’s easy to theorize strategic infrastructure attacks against U.S. targets, the law of unintended consequences, especially with regard to nuclear weapons, should cause any would be insurgents to consider very carefully, not just the severity, but the pace at which their attacks are to unfold.

In other words, stop buying toothpaste and grow your own tomatoes! Start somewhere, and use the sense of power and accomplishment to find other ways to resist, teach others and direct resources to help people who are doing good work. In a society like the U.S., defunding fascists via voluntary simplicity is the most effective form of resistance that I am aware of.

In a society like Mexico, though…

Via: AP:

More than 60 per cent of Mexico’s steel production was halted and two major auto plants, including Volkswagen’s only manufacturing facility in North America, shut down Tuesday after explosions claimed by a leftist group cut natural gas supplies.

Petroleos Mexicanos said the attacks on its oil and natural gas pipelines would cause hundreds of millions of dollars in production losses for the state-owned oil company and affect 10 states. Private-sector groups told Mexican news media that the attacks and subsequent precautionary shutdowns would cost businesses close to US million.

Mexico’s steel industry chamber Canacero said Tuesday that more than 60 per cent of the country’s steel production has been halted, and that it could take up to seven days to resume.

In a statement, Canacero said losses would “significantly” exceed the million the industry suffered from similar attacks on pipelines in July.

The six explosions affected a dozen natural gas pipelines and one oil pipeline in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, sending flames and black smoke shooting into the air but causing no direct injuries. The blasts occurred at valve stations where different pipelines intersect.

Industry and national-security experts say the small leftist group claiming responsibility has proved it is a force to be reckoned with.
