My goal is the search for truth...let us come together in hopes for finding some reliable sources.....
I have just become active in this forum and would like to bring up an important issue... What makes a website reliable and truthful?? I personally use the "Scholar" option in Google (if you don't see it on the main page, click "More") as well as some other scholarly search engines (these searches only bring up articles written by credible journalism agencies, , and also conduct research through my school library (UCLA) which contains researchs, articles, and documents done by UCLA Phd's as well as other credible universities. In the few days that I have become active in this forum, I have seen many links to theories about various subjects, but what makes these links credible? They can easily be propaganda based sites or conspiricy theorists, etc., or they can actually contain some truth to them. My point of this article is to start a discussion on what makes websites credible or what different avenues of credible search may exist. I am nor a Democrat nor a Republican because I don't trust any politicians. I am a realist that only seeks for TRUTH.

In the fourth line I made a mistake. Between the commas ( which are empty), I meant to include statements made by government agencies/officials, articles written by consortiums of agencies, etc..

This is a propaganda website, at least in my opionion. People ignore the facts and reality here to push there idiology and special agendas. Basically this site is the enquirer for anarchist, reconquista movement, aztland, conspiracy theories, special interests, and any other wacked out things a person can imagine. If you are anti-U.S. and you believe the U.S. is the root of all evil, this site provides you a home.

Well, I just feel there is two sides to every story. Propaganda or not, both sides should be well represented in forums such as this. This is a media organization, correct? or is it you agree with us or your out?

The homeland propaganda machine is doing all it can to try to control the information that is posted. It's not easy covering up and apologizing for the 4th Riech. But it's a job.

When considering what people on this forum embrace, the demise of the U.S., the 4th riech does need to be put in check. Indymedia groups are one sided and not at all acting in a responsible manner. I have yet to read anyones comments on what has been posted in regards to the following headlines: In Mexican villages, rape can be called a courting ritual Women’s Rights in Latin America and the Caribbean In Mexican villages, rape can be called a courting ritual PROSTITUTION " Military personnel are prostituting Mexican women in Chiapas Attitudes among authorities and the public
Like with all hypocrosies, indymedia members prefer to ignore serious issue in favor of there personal agendas. I have yet to see anyone of these special interest groups condem these social and immoral practices. No demonstrations, no outrage, no condemnation, just ignore it and it will go away. It dosent further our agenda. That seems to be the attitude. Oh, I am sure someone will blame the U.S. NAFTA, CAFTA or something else instead of the culture that engages in these practices. 4th riech, you bet. But its not really the U.S. that embraces this ideology now is it?

And against the organized and well funded homeland propaganda of the system, we have unpaid staff and authors. And we're winning.

Why, we're winning 3+ millions hits per month. And even if only a small percentage finds information that makes sense, it's a win. That is why the MSM is dying. Long live the media.

The purpose of this post was to educate each other on reliable sources of information.... But perhaps everyone is too blinded by their narrow-mindedness to actually stick to the topic... =[

There are more than two sides to every story. This particular issue has at least half a dozen sides who show up for the demos. I think of these: SOS, fascist/nazi allies, day laborers, leftist allies, Mexica / cultural groups, and in-betweeners like Rockero, Jammer, and (maybe) Fred Rice.
I haven't even divided between SOSers who are ok with immigrants, and those who are against all immigration. Likewise, the leftists come in those who are against nationalism (anarchists), and who are okay with nationalism (internationalists). There are day laborers who like the centers, and those who do not. There are religious folks interested in poverty. There are facists who are white supremacist, and those who want to kill people like me for political reasons. Then you've got all those wacky floaters who either want to hug both sides, or dislike both sides.
Despite all these differences, what most of the demonstrators have in common is that they're pretty much working class, or maybe working class with a house. (I think Turner might be relatively wealthy, and at least one person on the SOS boards is wealthy, but that's a tiny minority compared to a site like Slashdot.)
Indymedia is different from the news, because it doesn't split the sides down the middle, to make a shorter story. It's a leftist site, and openly biased. In fact, many indymedia sites would have closed off the site to the SOS side a long time ago. LA's just not able to be that vigilant, or selective.

In the time it took johnk to type that, he could have instead hidden some of the crap. But he didn't. Why?
