by A Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 11:35 AM

This Winter’s 2005 Anti-Mall was held at the South Central Farm on December 18th.

100’s of people showed up for this event. There was great food, much of grown on the farm. Arts and crafts booths. Music. There was a 12:00 mass and procession. Also tours of the farm were given and information on the fight to save the farm.

Organizers of this year’s Anti-Mall event have issued this statement:

“Recycle Your Money”
To provide a space were artists, cooperatives and alternative businesses, that are active participants in the betterment of their communities, can sell their art, music, clothing and other goods and services. The Anti-Mall serves to connect consumers with products that fit their political, moral and spiritual ideals. In accomplishing this mission we will successfully aid in the expansion of the growing population of Conscience Consumers. Conscience Consumers need more places to recycle and invest their money into people and projects that are committed to a more just society.

I wish I was there. How much time does the farm have, assuming it will be torn down?

I notice in the second to last photo something that says "Aztlan." But then again, in the last photo the painting of the globe divides the U.S. and Mexico in separate colors according to the established border.

Jammer I see your point

by Border Raven Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 2:24 PM

In picture 5, there is a Mexican flag, but nowhere do I see the USA flag. Good reason to tear down the farm.

Aztlan

by El Chivo Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 4:17 PM

I dont worry to much on the Aztlan phenominia. I see Aztlan only an idealogy and cultural heritage.
I even dont see America as a white nation. The Minuteman, Save Our State, CCIR, National Alliance, and others wants you to believe it. I believe America is a melting pot of diverse people. I think America has a long way to go to be a just society.

I don't mind the Mexico flag at all. I even ordered one on Ebay to display in the event anyone from SOS actually burns a Mexico flag.

"I dont worry to much on the Aztlan phenominia. I see Aztlan only an idealogy and cultural heritage.

Having been rid of the Minuteman/SOS mentality, I'm ready to really be all ears and I understand what Chivo is saying. I even spoke to a guy in person who says Atzlan is mythical, not in a bad or fake way, but like you said, probably as a cultural heritage. I have no problem with that and infact since I'm not from Mexico or related to anyone from there or anywhere in the Southern Americas, it's probably not my place to decide on that. In terms of it being cultural heritage.

You're right to a certain degree, as far as I know, in that Jim Gilchrist, the CCIR, and others involved will want people to believe they are true American patriots and to be with them is to be American. As an American, I beg to differ. As for America being white, I don't see this nation in that way. I at least don't think that should be the idea of this nation. I know what the National Alliance are about. As for CCIR, Gilchrist, and others, I haven't seen that expressed from them blatantly. But they at least seem to take the idea of being an American citizen to a nationalism-like level.

to clarify

by Jammer CC Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 4:49 PM

I know that this nation shouldn't be an all white-exclusive nation. What I was unsure of is if that's really the case right now. To a certain degree maybe. The effort is there, that can't be denied. So yeah this place has a long way to go.

Tear it down!

by pete nice Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 5:08 PM

"tear down the farm"

Do you know how lame you sound, BR?

That statement on it's own is so indicative of how short-sighted and truly ignorant the Minutemen and so many Americans are these days.

They're more than willing to destroy a farm and destroy the bond that people have built with the land just because something symbolic like a flag is or is not present.

Symbols above substance --- typical.

Yeah I was surprised someone posted that, even Border Raven. But hey, no less than 12 SOS members either wanted to burn a Mexican flag or at least were supportive of the idea.

To Jammer

by El Chivo Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 6:02 PM

In Victorville, while protesting against SOS/NA, they called my friends who are white a sell out. That's is why I made that remark that SOS..wants you to believe that the state is a white nation.

Race In America

by johnk Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 6:07 PM

America used to be racist by law. Today, it's not that racist by law, but is still pretty racist in practice. So things are improving, and, they improved a whole lot in the middle of the 20th century. There's still a way to go, but we're making progress.

I think the two big things we still need to reconcile are slavery and the genocide of Indians.

to El Chivo

by Jammer CC Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 6:47 PM

Was it just NA members doing that, or also any SOS members who are well known?

Obviously I wasn't there since I just started with the July 30th protest in Laguna Beach.

Slavery Continues

by Border Raven Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 9:19 PM

,as long as we allow human trafficking across our borders.

Back in the late-1970s, in the Phillipines, a child could be bought from his/her family for $500 cash.
This was endentured slavery, as the person making payment, litterally took ownership, of the child. Children as young as 11 were sold, so the family could have the money.

Slavery has a long history, begining in Northern Africa, among Arabs. Today, illegal immigrants, pay thousands of dollars, up front to be smuggled into the USA, only to be imprisoned, by the smugglers, and held for ransom. Females are raped, and turned into prostitutes.

Slavery

by johnk Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 10:25 PM

One reason why slavery persists is because the slaves don't have an easy escape. There isn't an underground railroad for people to escape from their captors into a different community. Last year, there was an situation where a woman who escaped found herself in prison for participating in the murder of her captor. Once paroled, she was also subect to deportation because she was undocumented. Here are links to her old story:

The good news was that she was allowed to stay.
