TROJANS DEMAND AN END TO SWEATSHOP ABUSES:
Students and Faculty propose Sweat-Free USC Initiative
Students from the University of Southern California
are asking administrators to respect the rights and
dignity of workers who make USC apparel by adopting
a plan to uncover and stop human rights abuses at the
factories that make Trojan apparel. They are demanding
the University join the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC),
an independent factory monitor, and release the terms
of a secret contract with Nike.
WHAT:
A rally and presentation of the Sweat-free USC
Initiative to University President Steven Sample. The
Initiative is the students response to six years of
inaction and foot dragging by the President.
WHEN:
9:30am-10:00am Monday, 10 October, 2005
WHERE:
n front of Bovard Auditorium in the center of
USCs University Park Campus.
WHO:
USC Students will present their demands to
President Sample
WHY:
USC has failed to take serious action against
sweatshops despite widespread abuses and
documented reports of physical violence against
workers.
VISUALS:
