Say a BIG Farewell to California Minuteman at CAMPO on Aug 6 & 7

Minutemen Are Leaving? Good Riddance! No Human Is Illegal! Unite for the Rights of All!

**CAMPO BORDER ACTION ALERT – PLEASE POST WIDELY**

WHAT: March – Protest – Action – Fiesta – in CAMPO

against the California Minutemen. Send the Minutemen

packing! Stand up against the violence of the border!

ALSO: To help people crossing the desert – DONATE

water (gallon or more sealed containers) and food (dry

goods, canned goods with pop tops, peanut butter) –

DROP OFF AT PRESS CONFERENCE OR CARAVAN DEPARTURE

POINT (see events and travel schedules below)

WHEN: This Saturday/Sunday, August 6-7 (see events

schedule below)

WHERE: Campo, CA – 60 miles east of San Diego on Route

94, 12 miles off I-8 (see directions below)

HOW: Carpool/caravan/donation drop off, LA (see travel

schedule below)

WHY: The “California Minutemen” (Border Patrol

Auxiliary) have had a miserable time during their

border action in Campo because people stood up against

them – starting on July 16 and continuing to today.

THIS WEEKEND WILL BE THEIR LAST WEEKEND IN CAMPO.

Gente Unida in San Diego and other activists involved

in the struggle along the US/Mexican border have

called for a Good Riddance Goodbye Party/Protest/March

on August 6 to send the Minutemen packing. Actions,

including humanitarian actions, will continue into

Sunday.

BRING: Signs, sun protection, food and water, chairs,

loud voices, good shoes, a hat. If you’re staying

overnight Saturday, bring clothes for COOL NIGHTS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 4

5:30 pm – Press Conference about August 6-7 Good

Riddance Protest/Fiesta in Campo, CA; Also a food drop

off for desert humanitarian efforts. Downtown LA.

Address to be announced. DROP OFF FOOD/WATER

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6

12 noon – Bi-national meeting regarding shootings at

border involving Border Patrol Auxiliary. Tecate, MX.

Address TBA.

4:00 pm – Gather for march/protest against the

Minutemen, the violence of the border, and

anti-immigrant racism and scapegoating. Campo, CA.

Rally point TBA.

Later – Continuing actions and music under the desert

sky. Campo, CA.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 7

Morning – Humanitarian actions. Location and plans

TBA.



TRAVEL FROM LA

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6

Caravan/carpool – LEAVE FROM the intersection of First

and Alameda Streets, downtown LA. Look for a banner

saying, “Quermos Un Mundo Sin Fronteras.” Unmonitored

parking (for a few bucks) is available on the

northeast corner off Alameda.

LEAVE AT 8:00 am, Saturday morning – to go to the

bi-national meeting in Tecate and then to Campo

OR 11:00 am, Saturday morning – to go straight to

Campo for the march/protest/rally/fiesta

FOOD DROP OFF 10:00 – 11:00 am, Saturday morning at

First and Alameda Streets.

Some cars will be staying overnight, some will return

to LA on Saturday night.

CAMPING?

If you have gear, there is open-country camping there.

Everyone’s welcome! Bring supplies and good humor.



DIRECTIONS TO CAMP IN CAMPO FROM LA

Depending on when you’re traveling…

I-5 south to the 805 south

805 south to the 8 east

OR

I-15 south from San Bernadino to the 8 east

THEN

8 east to Buckman Springs Road

Buckman Springs Road south to Rt 94

RIGHT on 94 toward Campo

LEFT off 94 onto Forest Gate Road

FOLLOW Forest Gate Road past the Border Patrol

Station. It will turn into a dirt road.

STRAIGHT ON DIRT ROAD – TOWARD THE BORDER FENCE.

You will come to the camp at the terminus of the

Pacific Crest Trail.
