MSNBC Financing Racism, Part 1

Katie Couric's interview with "cold feet" bride exposes truth of corporate media against Latino's

Reporting from

Washington, D.C.

As a 40 year old Black man from

Washington, D.C., I hear many a

gripe from fellow Blacks in the

nation's capital about Latino's

gettting jobs on construction

sites. But let's be realistic,

Latino's are just like Blacks,

they are just trying to survive.

like everybody else. And

again, Latino's also face

the same racist problems

Blacks do. Take for example this

years "cold feet bride" of Georgia,

Jennifer Wilbanks. This woman

decided, without telling her

fiance' on her wedding day with

600 invited guests, not to get

married. This was done by

faking her own abduction. Not

only that, she said that a Latino

kidnapped her. Now that the

truth has come out, with her

pleading no contest to criminal

charges, the sadness continues

to the Latino community.

The magazine, "Inside TV"

reported that, MSNBC

correspondent Katie Couric did

a June 12th interview with

Wilbanks and her fiance',

John Mason, in Georgia. This

event was taped for the news

program, "Today" and a June

21st broadcast special on

"Dateline". But the Inside

TV report gave no answer to

why Couric did this interview.

Not only that, it disclosed that

the "cold feet bride" sold the

rights to her story to Regan

Media for 0,000, which

includes a TV-movie and

possible book. Even though

Wilbanks thinks the mistake

she made was "the best

mistake ever made", that she

desperately needed help, such

is doubtful. With previous run

ins with the law for lying and

shoplifiting, such rehabilitation

with a TV-movie and book

is doubtful. Most importantly,

it does not rectify the damage

done to the Latino community,

where she falsely accused a

Latino male for kidnapping her

at gun point. Every law

enforcement officer in the

country was looking for this

Latino male That in itself was

a death warrant! And MSNBC

does a greater injustice for

having such a sinister interview.

The clients of Regan Media

needs to be brought up to

speed in not releasing a movie

of this type; And if they refuse,

a national permanent boycott

needs to be implemented to

put them out of business.
