The anti-hate / anti white supremist rally in Baldwin Park was another overwhelming success!
Though the anti-hate rally is still going on strong the Baldwin Park, California, two hours or so was enough so I left early. As usual we had overwhelming numbers and the white supremists could manage maybe 30 or 40 hate mongers only. In fact it was difficult to tell exactly how many racist hate mongers were on their corner since the police -- probably numbering about 150 or so, including SWAT units and K9s -- had the racists segregated into their own little corner where the good guys (that would be the American heros protesting against these "Save Our State" a.k.a. "Minutemen" a.k.a. National Vanguard / Alliance a.k.a. Aryan Nations a.k.a. Klu Klux Klan and whatever else they're calling themselves this time around.
It was great! The good guys had music, dancing, speeches, little mini parades, even hanging pinatias (spelling?) of a racist hanging from a tree while kids batted it with sticks to release the candy inside. We got speeches advocating tolerance, a return of California to Mexico and Xenu knows all what.
The white supremists far, far down the street standing alone on their little corner numbered maybe 30 or 40 and since all vehicle traffic was blocked off, there they stood, suicidal and dejected with not a single car driving by them, just standing there in the heat whacking each other off to keep bus or something. It must suck to be a white supremist hate mongering bigot in a strong community where the actual people -- American patriots who turn out and stand up against hatred and intolerance -- aren't afraid.
'Course this time they're not dressed up as ghosts. }:-}
There was some good play acting and some anti-hate participants who came dressed up as _real_ Minutemen who actually fought for and upheld American ideals; the same ideals that these SOS / MM / American Nazi Party / National Vanguard/Alliance / Storm Front hate mongers are totally against.
It was great to see so many fellow white Americans turning out to oppose these racists. It makes me proud to be an American to see that the _majority_ of the people of America are against these racist scumbags.

They think this was a victory and that Joe should run for President.

Lill Willie,
Do not fret.
Congress is soon to send these invaders home.
John McCain and Ted Kennedy"s amnesty is not going to pass.
Congress is saying, absolutely no to all amnesties for these criminal Mexican invaders.
You know why Congress is saying no more amnesties, BECAUSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SAYING NO MORE AMNESTIES.
Go SOS, Minutemen, Joe Turner, Jim Grilchrist and Tome Tancredo.
Hey Fred Rice, one of your illegal Mexican invader friends raped a little nine year old girl. It happened in Ohio, where my friend lives. She e-mailed me. Blacks and whites alike stormed the community looking for the illegal MotherF*****. They could not find him, so they torched the house he had been illegally staying at. He ran like the cowardly rat he is.
Americans are fed-up. I can only imagine what those Americans would have done to the illegal Mexican dog, had they caught him.
American anger, is starting to show. Watch out, when it comes to a full boil.
Fred Rice supports rapists. Had that illegal not been here, that little girl would still be safe.

Yes, it was a good anti-hate rally, and there were no arrests that I could see. Everyone behaved themselves and there were enough police officers keeping everybody safe that anyone who even tried to mesbehave would have been leaped upon and asked to behave. And no, there weren't 100 white supremist kooks there, no way. }:-} I have to smile at the suggestion. It was difficult to see since they were pretty much boxed in in what I think of as another "Free Speech Zone." They were barricaded from the West on Downing, east and West from Badillo, barricaded North and South on Pacific and other N/S side streets so looking at a map, the racists were cut off and totally isolated so no possible way for anyone to drive or walk past them. I would hope that people who live around the street corner the racists were on were allowed to enter and leave, but traffic was shut down solid. 30 or 40 is what they managed, just like last time. And it's amusing to hear that the racists are claiming they won. }:-} If they won, then General Custer must have won the Battle of Little Bighorn. I mean remember the joke about why the Indians loved Bighorn so much? "Because the Indians kept coming, and coming, and coming..." }:-} The racists were vastly out numbered and penned in, which I don't think was fair. http://www.svgtribune.com There's a good story this morning about the anti-hate rally and citizens of Baldwin Park. It's the paper's front page and was released before today's rally. A young citizen is interviewed and so is an holder citizen and there's a map of where the Monument is located. If you haven't checked it out yet, check out the SGVT article and, if someone would, please post the full URL to the article. I'm unable to bring it up just yet but will grab a copy when I can for my web site. And I see the racists are trying to pretend that if you're against white supremists, you're for the rape of 9 year olds in Ohio. That's the Republican white supremist kindset again, looks like. But then we're talking the left side of the Bell Curve so that's not really surprising.
Oh: According to that San Gabriel Valley Tribune article, the Mayor of Baldwin Park and the City spoke of Judy Baca at around 11:00 this morning though I must have missed it. The people -- the citizens who actually live here, and the overwhelming majority of the American people -- are against these racist scumbags and everything they stand for. The artwork of the Monument is staying and white supremist scumbags who want to use the Monument as a white supremist recruiting aid will be happy to learn that they'll be able to spew their race hate using the Monument for decades to come.
Still, I don't think it was right or fair to put the racists in an effective "Free Speech Zone." Nobody on the American side could get close enough to take photographs of the hate mongers this time and that's a shame. Hopefully the racists will post photographs of themselves trying to buck up and smile for their own selves as they play pretend it was some how a good day for the Master Race.
But I suppose the City and the police felt it was better to trade safety for free speech, thinking that the racists were free to spew their hatred among themselves and themselves only so that's good enough. And maybe a reporter or two were allowed to get close to the racists to take photographs but we'll have to see.
In all, it was a good day for all Americans. The ugly face of hatred and once again opposed.
And we get to sit now and watch the right-wing hate mongers try to spin once again. And a good time was had by all! (Well, all that _deserve_ to live in America, any way.) }:-}

I heard Turner was arrested today, because he had some kind of warrant out. He assaulted a cop or something. Is this true?

> I heard Turner was arrested today, because he had some > kind of warrant out. He assaulted a cop or something. Is this true?
I suspect it's wishful thinking since none of the mailing lists -- at least those I'm on -- mention anything like that, and nothing has come into any of my POPs. I'd also expect the mainstream right-wing media would have already covered the arrest (at least a little bit of it) since... well consider the media coverage if a head leader of the KKK was arrested. It would have been covered by now if it were true.
Besides, I'm sure the cops are aware of the fact that the clown would love to be arrested for any reason he could spew to his followers while claiming racial oppression. I doubt any cop would give the racists that toy to play with. If he's got a warrant out for his arrest, it would be served far from any television camera and far from his white supremist buddies, in a place where he could be served and arrested quietly, calmly, and safely.
So it's got to be just wishful thinking.

"You're sick and tired of being called racists." OK, so stop spewing racial hatred and white supremacy, and you won't be called a racist.
"You're sick of them not paying taxes." "Illegal" immigrants do pay substantial amounts of social security taxes, which they will never be able to collect later in life as a pension, meaning that your social security entitlement will be partly financed by... that's right... the hard work of "illegals". But I bet you won't complain about that when you cash those social security checks.

American heroes? you mean the one carrying Mexican flags?
We got speeches advocating tolerance, a return of California to Mexico and Xenu knows all what.
But I thought this whole "reconquista" thing was a myth?
-- American patriots who turn out and stand up against hatred and intolerance -- aren't afraid.
"American Patriots" don't fly foreign flags, advocating the return of our state to Mexico. Of course their not afraid. Their the majority. Going into a hostile city where you KNOW you're going outnumberd and possibly attacked is what really takes guts.

The anti-racist protest in Baldwin Park was part Aztec cultural festival, and part righteous denunciation of pathetically misguided and misinformed self-professed "patriots". The local gendarmes had them so isolated that even the most intrepid protester could barely see them, much less physically get in their faces as they did last week in Alhambra. Only the "press" were allowed to get close enough to the 30 or 40 self-deluded SOS types who thought they were proudly "standing firm" against "illegal immigration".
"Standing firm"? At least 3/4 of Baldwin Park's residents are immigrants whom blithely went about their business today, and having braved the lawless Mexican/USA border were not at all perturbed by a few silly anglos standing on a street corner waving U.S. flags.
Far from being intimidated, they would have run them out of town if the 125 "peace officers" had not kept the SOS people about 75 meters away from all people, local residents or counter-protestors. The SOS had more guards than the president of the United States!
When the SOS lads start protesting in the agri-business fields where so-called "illegals" pick fruits and vegetables, or at the "meat-processing" plants where "illegals" butcher and process livestock so that the red-blooded SOS guys can have low-cost meat, then we will know they are really sincere in their opposition to "illegal" immigration.
Guess what? That will never happen. SOS and MInuteman leaders are your basic Machiavellian publicity hounds: They'll do anything to be interviewed on TV or quoted in the newspaper. Otherwise, why return to protest an obscure monument in an otherwise unexceptional working class city like Baldwin Park? The monument does not employ "illegals" or help them cross the border. Even if Baldwin Park took down the monument, there would be no change in the number of people crossing the border without "documents". In no way would the group be any closer to "saving our state" from "illegal aliens". So why protest there? To get Joseph Turner on the evening news, so that he will be increasing his public profile for a future run for political office.
If this is the best the SOS can do, I'm not too worried about them.

http://www.sgvtribune.com/ I see this morning's San Gabriel Valley Tribune has two front-page articles covering the anti-hate rally, both articles actually fairly accurate, so far as I can tell. There were about 10 arrests for people walking along the Metrolink rails (which is dangerous and stupid) and apparently one person who was arrested for an alleged assault -- which _wasn't_ the head hate ringleader Joe Turner as was suggested elsewhere.
One of the articles covers the diversity of opinion among the pro-America side of the yellow ribbon. And it looks like both articles suggest that the anti-hate protesters and the white supremist group were within shouting distance, with one of them saying there were "racial slurs" traded back and forth. That's not very accurate since the racists were far down the street all by themselves with nobody but themselves to play with.
Ad I see the SOSMMNVANPWhatever this morning are out in numbers spewing and trying to spin this latest humiliating defeat, one of these unfortunate clowns trying to blame it all on Indy Media. 'Course nothing's stopping them from posting the "truth" so one's left wondering why none of them ever do.
Check out the San Gabriel Valley Tribune coverage, though. Looks pretty good.
