This resolution hurts both sides in this conflict. Regardless of your politics. No one should support this resolution. The City should repeal the resolution immediately to avoid legal action.
Whatever resolution they make, no local law can supercede the right to free speech and the right to peaceable assembly as stated in the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights. To require a person or a group to get a permit to exercise their constitutional rights is unlawful. The City of BP has made a big mistake. Given the examples of selective enforcement we have seen by the GGPD, this is resolution is a bad sign for the free speech rights of both the SOS/MM and those who oppose them as well as all the people of BP. As the saying goes: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”
For reference:
US Bill of Rights, Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Ignore the resolution it will struck down in the courts. SOS-MM are still going to be there. On with the Unity Jam

> What about a Permit? > Baldwin Park just passed a new law.
It's not a law, it's a rule. Also it only applies to goups of 35 or more so unless you're with a group that larges, your group doesn't need to acquire a permit. Even the racists won't be able to field 35 so it's moot for them as well. We're several dozen small groups, none of which were anywhere near 35 for the first anti-hate protest, and I doubt any group of 35 or more are going to attend this second anti-hate rally.
It's also not unconstitutional, like that other individual keeps wanting to pretend. The rule doesn't deny anyone the right to assemble or demonstrate. The rule is simply to ensure that any group larger than 34 acquire a written list of the proper modes of conduct for civilized behavior.
