Update On GG Protest/Arrests

by XXinfinity Friday, May. 27, 2005 at 10:02 PM
losojos@gmail.com

Update on the arrests of 5 students, one is still in jail. The bails range from 2K-5K. We need to fundraise for their fees, and alert all media, and organizations to their injustice.

To all concerned people of conscience,

If you are not aware of what happened at the Minutemen Protests, let me give you a brief update before I move onto the plan of action:
Minutemen Founder James Gilchrist, was invited to speak at the Women's Civic Club in Garden Grove. The Minutement Project is a racist organization attempting to unlawfully detain and deter immigrants from crossing into the United States by intimidation and force. An estimated number of 300 protesters rallied against Gilchrist on the sidewalk around the club.

At this same protest a man representing the Minutemen had plowed into a group of protesters who were blocking his entrance into the parking of the building. This man was later taken by the police and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, but news today is that he got off with no charges.

This racist got off with no charges, but 5 student protesters have been charged with felonies. These felonies have bail amounts from $20,000-$50,000. Fortunately, with a bail-bondsman all but one have been released. The charges for the felonies are bogus and most were actually done very early into the protest way before any type of chaos began to become incited by the minutemen or police.
A minuteman was also arrested for throwing a brick but we have no updates on his charges.

Otherwise the student political prisoners of conscience have been arrested and all charged with assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony offense. The police claim that water bottles and coke cans were thrown. Therefore some of the students were charged even if they didn't have those objects on them, others were charged just because they had the objects on them. Yet none were actually caught in the act of throwing the objects. As well most of the students we arrested before the protest actually began to become heated, therefore the time of any action occurring and the arrests do not match up.

Plan of Action:

During the future arraignments of the students we need to mobilize as many people as possible during these arraignments. We want as many people as possible to join us in the courthouse with victims of injustice. Right now the dates and times of the arraignments are uncertain.
Also Schwarzenagger is coming to UCI on Tuesday and we will be making posters and planning our action on Monday night at the Center in Santa Ana. More information will be sent out later concerning this event. Our Governor has been vocal about his support of the minutemen. We need to give him a good "welcome" and make sure he knows that the Minutemen are NOT welcome in our state, and that the Governor is doing a horrible job governing this state. The demonstration will be on Tuesday around noon at the Bren Events Center. This event for the governor is private, but we can still show the people arriving how we feel about the governor.

So, plans: Monday night poster making for demonstration against Governator at the Cultural Center in Santa Ana. If you need rides, send an e-mail to losojos@gmail.com
The demonstration will be at noon on Tuesday at the Bren Events Center, be sure to be there. If you cannot make posters Monday night, we will also meet Tuesday morning from 9:00am till the demonstration at the poster making room at the Humanities Trailers, where the ATMS have been moved to, and across from Humanities Hall. Please spread the word of the injustices suffered by these students as well as the plans of actions.

Also we will begin fundraising to cover the bails, fines and attorney fees for the students. Therefore look out for e-mails for fundraising plans, or please donate all you can at the events to those involved.

Students for Peace and Justice (SPJ)

criminal culture

by Major Yadda to Faye. Saturday, May. 28, 2005 at 4:07 AM

'See, they know they have done something wrong, and live in the shadows, because that is where criminals belong.'
I think I know who and where the criminals are.
They live inside the comfortable regions of privilege.
And denial.
This poverty these people are escaping from are the direct results of the current economic criminal despotic power structure. Apparently you can't or wont see it. Wedge issues are the mark of the beast in that they serve the powerful. As the oppressed fight for dangled scraps among themselves.

So much chest beating, so I wonder, are they sore?
My question is will they assist in general mobilization? Againts the beast?

"He is, of course, entirely innocent of the charges. "

Absolutely! Parrish the thought that a lemming could ever be guilty of anything.

RE: fresca

by Alexander Saturday, May. 28, 2005 at 7:33 AM

There is absolutely no evidence that in any way supports the police's claims regarding Kurt. However, there is a multitude of evidence-- video, photo, and numerous eyewitness accounts-- that vindicates Kurt. He did not bring any water bottles to the protest, and at no time during the protest did he so much as hold one. He was chosen at random, as were many (if not all) of the other people arrested.

Random

by johnk Saturday, May. 28, 2005 at 9:06 AM

The stuff below is entirely speculation.

It might not be entirely random.

Maybe they were looking for specific people, or went after people they thought might be someone they want.

Have you see the tape? More propaganda... Plowed...Racist... OY

by Unbiased_Va Sunday, May. 29, 2005 at 3:43 AM

Using the termed "plowed" sounds like people were killed or seriously hurt. Only was ONE person was admitted to the hospitol for minor injuries, released 3 hours later. All politics put aside... have you seen the videotape...yes, videotape... Rodney King has videotape and so Does Hal. Videotape does not lie or fabricate. Only you and this website do. There's a reason people are not charged. EVIDENCE is pretty important when reporting don't you think. Hal is not a racist... meet or listen to Hal and you will realize that. Making false statements makes everything you say seem second nature. There is always 2 sides...but when there is video tape...you ARE EXPOSED

I agree with Faye

by Easter Bunny Sunday, May. 29, 2005 at 6:11 AM

I agree with Faye,

Illegal immigrants are criminals, that is why they live in the shadows.

They have no right to be here.

The traitor employers, that hire them, should be hung from the nearest tree.

We must start deporting, each and every single illegal immigrant, that is here.

There will be no peace, until the American people, have justice.

We must all obey the rule of law.
