Photographer Marcus stated there were "around 3,000" people at the Pershing Square demonstration. Local television stations reported otherwise. The lowest figure I heard was "5 to 7 thousand"... but most stations reported 10,000. Local tv also reported 30,000 gathered at the state's capital.

Well it is true that TV stations and newspapers reported that there were 10,000 people in SACREMENTO, but not in Los Angeles. When I shared my estimation of 3, 000 with my colleagues, they more or less agreed with me that the LAPD grossly overestimated the attendance at the rally which they estimated at 5 to 6 thousands.
There is no way that you can fit that many people on one half section of the Pershing Square where the rally was. The Unions, the media were talking about the combined attendance at the rally in the state capital and in LA.
