After monitoring the Save Our State web site and forum (where members can post to each other), there are some serious concerns arising. Their rhetoric is becoming more racist and violent as the day progresses, with threats of violence to individuals that they believe are illegal. One member calling himself “dalestptbch” has stated that, “[t]he end is near for these illegals. there is going to be Hell to pay.” The problem with their notion of whom is illegal; they consider any congregation of Mexicans or Mexican Americans as probable illegal aliens. They have one part of their site called “Welcome to Mexifornia!” The page says, “Aren't you tired of watching your state turn into a third world cesspool right before your eyes? […] If you would like to submit some pictures depicting the third world shantytown your community is becoming, please feel free.” They then post pictures of Latin American individuals (they do not ask people to verify which country the Latinos are from). Further, if you look at the profile pictures that their members use, you will find them pointing and firing a pistols at the reader, pictures of the Mexican Flag, with a red circle and line through it, artificial border patrol badges, as well as other racist images. The posts that raise the most concern are the ones that a vengeful, violent, and racist. Posts are beginning to sound dangerous, such as one from a person calling himself, “BlackCatsinOntario” stating “But on the other part of my brain, it is purely revenge. I am all shook up and angry and definitely convinced that these MEChA goons are asking for trouble. I don't give a rat's ass if they are juveniles.” They have been conducting multiple harassment style demonstrations at locations where day labors frequent, and now intended to increase their activity. It is hard to predict if the group will start attacking innocent people, but the potential for individual members to begin committing hate crimes is very high. Now is the time for all the activists and various political organizations that attended the counter demonstration to maintain our unity with each other, and rally to the aid of all Latin American people that reside in the United States, as any one of them could be a potential target to these armed vigilantes.
Their site is something else. They want to move underground and go more radical right. There's even a guy from Georgia giving them some advice about how black people got their rights through nonviolence (though it seems like he'd be okay about it if they didn't). If they really keep pushing in this direction, they will probably get the violence they expect, as extreme groups tend to attract extreme opponents.
Right, their web site is very telling. And the hatred and bigotry that's currently remaining on the SOS and "Minutemen" web sites is what's left _after_ they started going through removing embarrassing truths about themselves and what they stand for.
Every since I participated in the anti-hate rally in Baldwin Park, the hate email has been flooding into my POPs. The SOS and "Minutemen" bigots demand they're not racist hate mongers but the email they send -- and their web sites -- speaks otherwise.
Did you know that any which guy who speaks up for equality for Mexicans is a "race traitor?" It's true. Two such emails that have come in (that I bothered to scan through) call me a "race traitor" for opposing race hatred and bigotry and for opposing attempts to deny freedom of speech, expression, and art in Baldwin Park, California.
Also sitting in my inbound email box awaiting serious review are any number of emails wherein the author claims that hatred isn't a Christian ideal and that the SOS and "Minutemen" bigots can't be Christian as I suggest they must nearly all be.
At the same time, mainstream Christianity hasn't stepped forward to oppose these SOS a.k.a. "Minutemen" a.k.a. KKK a.k.a Aryan Nations et al. people. Christianity holds racism as a core ideological value in deed while proclaiming otherwise. And so it is with SOS, "Minutmen" or whatever the Brown SZhirts are calling themselves today.
F. L. Rice posts this on his website:
If you're a racist, please be sure to send me some Email letting me know what you think of the good guys smacking you bastards down hard, okay? Thanks.
and then feigns surprise when racialists take him up on it.
What does it prove? Not a damned thing.
I remember when I once posted an insult-free yet damning article on a socialist website (not this one).
All I got for my trouble was a bunch of lunatics with one-liners like, 'You conservative so-and-so.' Also, several cowards took my email address and subscribed it to their idiotic prattle sites. How juvenile.
The problem with potential demagogues like F. L. Rice is one shared by many coming from all rays in the political spectrum: the notion that they and they alone are right and therefore all others who disagree are wrong.
It is always the Other who is the moral failure, racist, homophobe, bigot, etc.
Word to the yet-to-be wise: ad hominem attacks are so played-out (enjoy the irony).
The real reason the left is marginalized (and hopefully vanishing) is its moral bankruptcy and lack of vision. That and how socialism always fails, wherever it's tried.
From that site:
The Skeptic Tank is a BBS which maintains extensive archives on destructive groups, individuals, and ideologies with special focus on religion's impact upon history as well as religion's impact upon rights, liberties, health, and safety of the world's populace in contemporary times.
It would be better if this site was advertised as an anti-religion site, as well as an anti-capitalist and anti-conservative site, than pretend to deliver objectivity.
