What a joke! Whenever a person tries to kill a cop such as Gonzalo did by trying to run over a chp officer with his vehicle and reaching into his waistband and police take action, all of a sudden, the suspect was such a nice person and did not deserve to even be arrested. I support the police fully as a latino. They put their lives on the line everyday to protect people from drunk drivers and hooligans. I was at the rally you had to take pictures, (I'm a photographer) and noticed how your crowd is getting smaller and smaller every year, because people are realizing that police ARE right once in a while in taking down criminals that deserve it. (Not saying Gonzalo deserved it, or he didnt, just as an example) Whenever something happens, the police are racist, even though 48% of patrol officers in Downey and 76% of patrol officers in South Gate are latinos. Just an FYI before people are so quick to throw out the race card so fast.

You know it's funny how everyone can just point fingers. I can't belive that every year you people have a march for your son. First of all I think that if someone is under the influence of a substance, in this case alcohol and gets on to the freeway. Then the cops try to stop him and that person try's to run the cops over with a deadly waepon(the car). Not once but twice. Then that person try's to be smart and place his hands behind his back as if he has a weapon. That person should die. Reason being is that as a cop we are in constant danger. I know that if some punk kid rached for his back, I am thinking in the back of my mind that he has a gun. Of course I am going to shoot him because I am going home to my wife and kids. All your family wants is money and I think is bullshit that you can call cops racist because if it wans't for cops the entire population would see so much violence and more chaos in this world and there would be no one to protect you. Also my second point is that GONZO's father stated that the night before his death that they had an argument and GONZO's father told GONZON he was a drunk and Gonzo replied to his father that he rather die than be a shame to him. So Gonzo decided his easy way out of killing himself was to have cops kill him. So you see if you get your facts right and place all the pieces together he did it to himself. So stop blaming the cops because all your doing is wasting your time. I wish you knew what it was like to be a cop because it is very difficult to be a cop now a days because family's like your call us pigs and all we are doing is putting our lives on the line for people we don't even know. I am so happy you people did not get a dime from the city because you don't deserve a penny, because all the cops did was there jobs and in the end you tried to strip there dignity away from them all because your son decides to kill himself by the hands of the men and women that protect the community.

This picture is a good example of the result when a person attempts to run over a CHP Officer and elude Downey Police in a pursuit. Either pay attention, show your hands and obey commands or end up feeling warm lead throughout your pathetic torso. The family sued and eventually lost the decision, decided by jurors who recognize a frivolous lawsuit when they see one. I have lived in Downey for 30 years now and I'm glad I don't see the money hungry family "protesting" the self defense of police officers necessary to deal with a repeat offender (DUI and suspended license) of a criminal. Congratulations Downey Police. Continue to serve my city in my full support!
