The following article suggests there's more than mere sabre rattling going on, that a deadly setup is in the works to mobilize the US population against Iran, and that the outlook is grim not only for Iran but for the US.

"...The plan is not for the USA to attack Iran as "leaked' to Seymour Hirsh. The leaks...[are] merely to stir up the Ayatollahs like a hornet's nest, AS ROOSEVELT STIRRED UP THE JAPANESE BEFORE PEARL HARBOR, AND FOR THE SAME REASONS, AND WITH THE SAME CONSEQUENCES. The article's February 2 "footnote" is even more ominous, suggesting that:

"...one or more nuclear devices have been secreted in an American city...by "Muslim Arabs" who were unwittingly working under the overall command of an agenda laid out by Washington's Neo-conservatives. Just like the 9-11 hijackers were.

"...At the right time, a device will be detonated and then...dramatic evidence will be presented of Iranian involvement...thereby opening the way for an all-out retaliatory nuclear strike on Iran."

IF ANY OF THIS IS EVEN CLOSE TO THE TRUTH, *NOW* MIGHT BE A VERY GOOD TIME TO ASK THE BETTER PEOPLE IN CONGRESS--Barbara Boxer, Barbara Lee, Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, and others--TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INVESTIGATE AND PUT AN END TO ANY SUCH PLANS.

"Pearl Harbor Redux"

Unlike our webmaster, I cannot publish secret documents on this site, but I can and will draw for you reasonable scenarios and commonsense conclusions from published sources. Seymour Hirsh’s article in The New Yorker: has been widely discussed since it appeared. Hirsh said that: According to a former high-level intelligence official, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff shortly after the election and told them, in essence, that the naysayers had been heard and the American people did not accept their message.

“This is a war against terrorism, and Iraq is just one campaign. The Bush Administration is looking at this as a huge war zone,” the former high-level intelligence official told me. “Next, we’re going to have the Iranian campaign. We’ve declared war and the bad guys, wherever they are, are the enemy. This is the last hurrah—we’ve got four years, and want to come out of this saying we won the war on terrorism.”

The Israeli government is, not surprisingly, skeptical of the European approach. Silvan Shalom, the Foreign Minister, said in an interview last week in Jerusalem,with another New Yorker journalist, “I don’t like what’s happening. We were encouraged at first when the Europeans got involved. For a long time, they thought it was just Israel’s problem. But then they saw that the [Iranian] missiles themselves were longer range and could reach all of Europe, and they became very concerned. Their attitude has been to use the carrot and the stick—but all we see so far is the carrot.” He added, “If they can’t comply, Israel cannot live with Iran having a nuclear bomb.”

The Administration has been conducting secret reconnaissance missions inside Iran at least since last summer. Much of the focus is on the accumulation of intelligence and targeting information on Iranian nuclear, chemical, and missile sites, both declared and suspected. The goal is to identify and isolate three dozen, and perhaps more, such targets that could be destroyed by precision strikes and short-term commando raids. “The civilians in the Pentagon want to go into Iran and destroy as much of the military infrastructure as possible,” the government consultant with close ties to the Pentagon told me.

Some of the missions involve extraordinary coöperation. For example, the former high-level intelligence official told me that an American commando task force has been set up in South Asia and is now working closely with a group of Pakistani scientists and technicians who had dealt with Iranian counterparts. (In 2003, the I.A.E.A. disclosed that Iran had been secretly receiving nuclear technology from Pakistan for more than a decade, and had withheld that information from inspectors.) The American task force, aided by the information from Pakistan, has been penetrating eastern Iran from Afghanistan in a hunt for underground installations. The task-force members, or their locally recruited agents, secreted remote detection devices—known as sniffers—capable of sampling the atmosphere for radioactive emissions and other evidence of nuclear-enrichment programs.

The immediate goals of the attacks would be to destroy, or at least temporarily derail, Iran’s ability to go nuclear. But there are other, equally purposeful, motives at work. The government consultant told me that the hawks in the Pentagon, in private discussions, have been urging a limited attack on Iran because they believe it could lead to a toppling of the religious leadership. “Within the soul of Iran there is a struggle between secular nationalists and reformers, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the fundamentalist Islamic movement,” the consultant told me. “The minute the aura of invincibility which the mullahs enjoy is shattered, and with it the ability to hoodwink the West, the Iranian regime will collapse”—like the former Communist regimes in Romania, East Germany, and the Soviet Union. Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz share that belief, he said.

Now, WHY would someone in the Pentagon leak this information to Hirsh? WHY have there been no Pentagon howls of outrage at this leak, and no witch-hunt to track down the leaker? Is it perhaps possible that Hirsh is being used, and if so, how? What is the intent behind the leaks, and what is the story we are being set up to believe as “truth” when it happens?

This article is so excellent that it is reproduced in its entirety, even though the details are not necessary to our present analysis – only the basic premise of Presidential deception and the premeditated sacrifice of thousands of American lives for political ends. ...THE PLAN IS NOT FOR THE USA TO ATTACK IRAN as “leaked” to Seymour Hirsh. The leaks to Hirsh, and all the noise going on in the media, is merely to stir up the Ayatollahs like a hornet’s nest, as Roosevelt stirred up the Japanese before Pearl Harbor, and for the same reasons, and with the same consequences: That IRAN should attack the USA. Of one thing we may be certain: The powerful Neocons in the United States are NOT dumb. I can testify for the American public that they are extremely bright men, superbly devious, and totally without ethics or morals. They have one supreme goal, the expansion of Israel, and this end justifies any and all means, including mass murder. Because of this blinding obsession, one thing besides a conscience is sorely lacking in their mental makeup: imagination.

What in fact will happen is this: Israel will attack the Iranian nuclear sites, with the USA permitting overflight of Iraq for that purpose. Iran will retaliate – but not against Israel – it will attack the ships and armed forces of the United States in the region.

Just like Japan did at Pearl Harbor.

Now, here is the interesting part of the Neocon plan. Iran’s “unprovoked” retaliatory attack on the sailors and soldiers of the United States will be so devastating, so deadly, and so effective, that Bush will immediately be able to call the entire country to war against Iran, (including a forced draft,) as Roosevelt did against Japan (breaking his promise that "I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars.") No doubt, the Neocons expect that they will be able to widen the war to Syria, and conquer all of Israel’s enemies for her. After all, when 100 million American youth, and the whole industrial might of the United States of America, are thrown into a total war, who can withstand it? Thus goes the thinking. It is a brilliantly clever plan, except for the Law of Unintended Consequences, or lack of prior imaginative capacity, which has already led to our present quagmire in Iraq. What the Neocons have overlooked is that the greed of their corporate friends has brought about a situation, in which the industrial might of the USA, which existed in 1941, no longer exists – it has been exported to China, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, and Guatemala – we do not even make our troops’ underwear here in the USA any more.

According to a psychic friend who years ago foresaw the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq and the mess that has turned into, one or more nuclear devices have been secreted in an American city, primed and ready to detonate. They were secreted by "Muslim Arabs" who were unwittingly working under the overall command of an agenda laid out by Washington's Neo-conservatives.

Just like the 911 hijackers were.

At the right time, a device will be detonated and then, in the midst of shock and confusion when few will be capable of calm rational analysis, dramatic evidence will be presented of Iranian involvement in the 'nuclear attack on America'. Thereby opening the way for an all-out retaliatory nuclear strike on Iran.

And don't make the mistake of thinking this is a little too far-fetched. Remember, there was presidential foreknowledge of Pearl Harbour, and some degree of foreknowledge and even complicity with the events of 911. So it's happened before and there is every likelihood of it happening again, only this time with even more casualties.

This has been further substantiated by a known disinformation agent. A scientist who masquerades as a dissident and often appears on Jeff Rense's radio show, this individual was outlining a similar scenario some time ago.

"This is exactly what I've been saying all along", he said when confronted with Hersh's article. However, he wasn't told that some thought that Hersh was being fed 'disinformation. Nor was it necessary, because almost on cue he began spouting a similar line.

"I think that it's quite possible that they (the Iranians) could deliver one or maybe even two nuclear weapons to mainland USA. Either in a suitcase nuke or in the form of the Shaheen IV": an ICBM which is similar to the old Soviet SS18 and in the final stages of development.

All of which sets-up Iran as the obvious culprit.

But the really telling line came when he spoke of the Neocons. "There finished", he said. Thereby consigning to the "memory hole" the architects of this whole diabolical plan.

So that if and when a nuclear device is detonated in the US, Iran will immediately fall under suspicion. While the real perpetrators will be completely overlooked and Israel's main regional rivals will be completely eliminated, with very little cost to Israel itself.

The only price being paid by ordinary and innocent Americans, Iranians and whoever else is caught up in the ensuing conflagration.

Now is that clever? Or diabolically clever?

Such a course of action would be stupid, incredibly so. Suicidal even. And the fact that we're reading about it makes it all the more unlikely. Sorry, but this is tinfoil headgear territory. Your government just wants you to panic and be afraid, this is all they can do to you. And they've succeeded- from real analysis of what you can do to beat the right, to nutty conspiracy theories in 60 seconds.

Well, I hope so, anyway.... Certainly they're playing with fire if they think they can go around starting wars willy-nilly.
