No Indymedia in Socialist Countries

by Jack Mehoffer Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at 2:15 PM

Anybody ever notice that, even as vast as the indymedia network appears to be, with independent websites operating in literally dozens of nations around the globe, there does not appear to be any indymedia collectives in countries that are typically thought of a predominantly socialist. There's no indymedia in China, or Russia, Cuba, North Korea, or Vietnam. Do any of you IMCers have an explanation for this phenomenon?

the countries you've named above don't have the exact name of "indymedia", it doesn't mean that they do not have an independent media outlet(s) of their own. Example: Cuba - Radio Havana. Let's think outside of the box....

I looked on the Radio Havana website

since I didn't know anything about it, and realized you must have been being sarcastic. Radio Havana appears essentially to be a mouthpiece for Castro. Looks like state-run media to me.......

Good job sidestepping my question.

by Jack Mehoffer Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at 1:09 PM

I didn't say Russia was a socialist state. I agree, the USSR bankrupted itself, as is to be the expected ends of a true socialist state. But it is still traditionally thought of as socialist as it is not a full bore capitalist society ... yet.

So the question still stands.

russia is on the menu for imc.

socialist countries like to protect their kids, to the point of mental retardation, or maybe they're too busy in the salt mines 19hrs/day.

You can either explain why North Korea and all those other fine, wonderful, worker's paradise places don't have IMC's or you can't.

Given your inability to get up off you fat ass and do anything, I strongly suspect the question will remain unanswered.

In the meanwhile, sweat for your daily bread and pay your fucking bills on time like I commanded you to do. The reason peon's like you exist are to do the bidding of those who live on the mountain tops. Understand your place.

you got a hell of a lot of gall...

You'll be lucky not to be hunted down when justice swings away from the present fascist trend towards retribution of which there is a mountain of... As it will because the demigods who hold power can't understand strength.

And the captains of the guards are blind evil fools who blunder fatally forgetting that rendering popular peaceful change impossible only makes violent change inevitable.

You better know a place to crawl off to.

You revolutionaries are all yap, no action. Ain't that right, sheepdog? Ooooooooo. We neo-nazis gotta quiver ever time some lil kook says that one day we're all gonna be hunted down, that'll show us. And then we'll all have to pay for our wicked ways.

Well, I ain't scared, lil precious. We've got the cops and the troops and the tanks on our side. All you seem to have is internet blather and an obsessive compulsion with the word "we".

Poor Dog

by Traveler Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at 1:56 PM

My My Dog You have gotten so bitter since my last visit to this site. Is the constant rejection of your views by the masses getting harder to take? It is Ironic isn’t it; the system you hate and fight to destroy protects you and your right to rage. As you make pronouncements of who you will hunt and eliminate down when it is replaced. I liked you better when you spent you time just looking for Spooks under your bed

bitter?

by Sheepdog Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at 3:32 AM

I was only angry when I got out of the military in '72 but I became bitter when my friends started to die from heroin and cancer after making it home alive. Now the cycle is repeating.

The enemy has always used the common people for it's tools of exploitation while never having to dirty their own hands. Then these tools, damaged or broken are soon forgotten. Such is the nature of a soulless criminal ruling class who believe themselves above the law and above the morality of humanity.

And I know who's side you are on, Traveler.

Not forgotten.

by Jack Mehoffer Monday, Jan. 17, 2005 at 5:19 AM

Those that fight for freedom and liberty are never forgotten. They are among those that are the most remembered. They selflessly chose to take up a cause greater than themselves. They did what was right, out of free will, and they were used by no one. We all have choices to make. Some choose to steep in venom while others choose to hoist the banner.
