LA Post Carbon at the Doo Dah Parade

LA Post Carbon will be entering the Doo Dah Parade with an entry called Got Oil? If you would like to participate in the parade or the preparation, visit groups.yahoo.com/group/PostCarbonDooDah.

The actors will include the out-of-gassers pushing their car carrying empty gas cans, the Earth being followed by a doctor(s) with a thermometer and stretcher, Uncle Sam who is "Addicted to Oil" and a TV set looking for a place to plug in.

To counter all this oil addiction, there will be a 12-Step Program for oil addicts. These steps are not meant to be all inclusive, but to give people a starting point incremental steps to end their addiction to oil.

12-Step Program for Oil-Addicts

1. Be aware of the oil you consume when you travel, shop, work and eat
2. Understand that you need only make incremental changes
3. Educate yourself about energy and sustainability
4. Reduce number of car trips
5. Increace walking or biking trips
6. Become active in your local community
7. Begin a garden
8. Create Car or Van Pools
9. Do away with non-essentials that don't contribute to our health or well being
10. Form an organic food-buying co-op
11. Retrofit homes for energy and water efficiency
12. Know that these steps are a small but important beginning

The marchers will be meeting at Memorial Park in Pasadena. The Park is located on Raymond Avenue between Walnut and Holly Streets

Nice touch with the strung-out Uncle Sam... how about him mainlining a IV drip from an oil barrel??

Riverside Area Peace and Justice Action will also be participating in the Doo Dah Parade.

The Green Party had a blast marching for our 3rd consecutive year.

Our theme was "Post Partisan Depression."
