Theaters for Fahrenheit 9/11 on 6/25

by Moviegoer Tuesday, Jun. 15, 2004 at 11:35 PM

Fahrenheit 9/11 is coming to a theater near you on June 25, and we must use this opportunity to pack the theaters to affirm the First Amendment, in particular, freedom of speech, which was trampled by the private Disney Corporation when it refused to allow the producer, Miramax, to distribute this movie before the November election, forcing a Canadian company, Lions Gate, and IFC, to distribute it, which they have done to some 700 theaters, and counting.

You can view these theaters at http://www.f911tix.com/. Not all of the theaters are listed yet, but daily, more seem to be added. This is the biggest attack by the fascists on any movie since the anti-Communist witchhunters attacked the labor film, “Salt of the Earth,” hounding it out of the big theaters in the 1950s. We must never allow that to happen again.

If you look in your local newspaper on June 25 and do not see Fahrenheit 9/11 listed at your local movie theater, call them and ask them to show it. Bush’s friends are trying to intimidate theater owners into not showing it, as the fascists did to “Salt of the Earth.” The theater owners need to hear from the supporters of Fahrenheit 9/11.

Like any movie, this one probably has its weaknesses, but that is no longer relevant. Our defense of the First Amendment and our determination to shut down the fascist terror being perpetrated by the Bush Administration and their Democratic Party supporters of the war in Iraq and fascism at home, exemplified by their support of the “Patriot” Act, must prevail if we are to prevent the next obvious step in this fascist juggernaut, namely concentration camps for anyone who has an intelligent thought, much less does an intelligent deed. If you are bothered by the air conditioning in the theaters as I am, bring a wool sweater which I always do. If you do not like the loud sound, plug your ear, as I do, or wear earplugs. My mother does not like the sound of popcorn crunching, but she will have to endure that, and she will. Her neighbors will have to endure someone telling her what the picture is that matches the dialogue since she is legally blind. Fortunately, she knows English, although it is not her native language. If your neighbor needs a translation from English, and you can provide it, please do so. Please make sure the people in wheelchairs can get into and out of the theater, and enjoy the movie. Some of us, of all ages, still cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys; please do not ask us to shut up. We will try to keep it to a minimum but the excitement is overwhelming.

This is a country of 290 million people, so we should do what we can to get 200 million people to see this movie. I can assure you, the question at the social scenes after June 25 everywhere will not be what movie did you see but did you see THE MOVIE? This is an historic event in and of itself; let us make it a watershed event so that there are grandchildren to hear that we stopped fascism in America in 2004, thanks to our solid, massive turnout for Fahrenheit 9/11.

As labor says,

Solidarity forever!

As a card-carrrying member of the vast right-wing conspiracy, I wouldn't dream of dissuading any of the 230 or so moviegoers nationwide from scrambling to see the latest crockumentary by the super-sized Messiah of the left.

By seeing Fatboy's truth-challenged flick, you're still contributing to global capitalism.

This is the most important movie you will ever see. It is just one more nail in the coffin of Bush. 25 diplomats and retired military will be issuing a scathing condimation of W on wensday. Looks like the ruling class is switching to Kerry. When are you Bush lovers gonna jump off your sinking ship?

I'm loving it! At this rate I'll be able to vote for Nader and not worry about it. Hell thats what your W lovers should do donate to Ralph Nader he's your only chance to defeat W.

Wavemaster there isn't any 'ruling class.' There is, however our much admired and legally elected Presdent GW Bush and his superb administration.

George will be easily reelected come November. The American people, even the intellectually challenged Democrats, won't be able to stomach Kerry in the role of Commander in Chief.

Despite the best efforts of the left leaning and so-called mainstream media the public the fact that we're making tremendous progress in Afghanistan and Iraq will get through.

This same leftist media won't be able to hide the fact that our economy is now moving into high gear and the direction is up.

And Ralph Nader?? Perhaps the best and toughest trivia question in the year 2020 will be, "Who was Ralph Nader?"

bushblower: "much admired"

...if a 43% (and dropping) approval rating is your idea of "much admired", then you need to get your adverbs overhauled.

Well first of all KPC, it depends on which pollster you follow. There is quite a difference from pollster to pollster. The only poll that really counts is the one in November and Bush will run away with that one.

Answer me this KPC. Are you backing Kerry? Planning to vote for him? Completely behind him on the issues? Admiring him?

BA: hope you don't lose a second's sleep over liberal claims of victory.

A month before Reagan SLAUGHTERED Mondale, the latter was briefly listed as "ahead" in some polls.

KPC: You're right. Bush will lose in a landslide, so there's no need for you to even vote.

by BA Thursday, Jun. 17, 2004 at 1:27 AM

With your one eye sealed shut, KPC, how would you know anything?

Here is the latest re GW Bush approval rating:

Fox News Opinion Dynamics Poll 6/9/04

Approve: 48% Disapprove % Undecided 7%

LA Times Poll 6/8/04

Approve 51% Disapprove 47% Undecide 2%

Gallup/CNN 6/4

Approve 49% Disapprove 49% Undecided 2%

And don't forget that disapproving Bush doesn't translate into approving Kerry.

I would think that the 47 or so percent disapproving Bush would disapprove Kerry even more.

So KPC get over it. GWB is a lock in November. You read it here first.

I bet that GWBush will cut and run and declare victory, just to get a few points for the elections.

by Barney Thursday, Jun. 17, 2004 at 10:08 PM

He's the incumbent for a start and people haven't really seen Kerry's weaknesses yet. You can put your house on Bush getting re-elected.

People use polls to issue warnings to their leaders, it's one of the privileges of living in a democracy - something Afghani and Iraqi people now look forward to.
