Saturday's Buck Fush Mass Street Vigils distribute loads of truth to a public starved for facts by the corporate controlled media...

Buck Buck Neighborhood Mass Vigil had good turn outs Saturday. Quite a number of local activists rotated in and out as the vigils evolved. High numbers at various locations ran from 30's to lows of about 10. Lots of support from the communities, about 85 to 90% positive. No negative events, save a few one-fingered peace signs and some testosterone shouts. Got lots of flyers out and had great, brief discussions with waiting motorists and passersby. The weather was warm to hot, but nice in the shady spots with cool breezes. Truly amazing how fast the four hours flew by. In W. Covina the PD Watch Commander stopped by right at high noon and asked if it would be peaceful since their information had it that some 200 people would be coming to this vigil. He was reminded that we are Peace PPL and that it would be great if 200 folks did join us.....afterall, we are experienced, law-abiding street "peace-urchins" with over a year and a half of corner-time on our resumes.
The PD had their information wrong from the Internet, there were to be an estimated 200 vigils happening region wide. One report had a couple of black and whites showing up to tell vigilers that they had received complaints that demonstrators were making "gestures." The vigilers copped to the charge and showed the cops the gesture being made to passing motorists..peace brothers, sisters! Generally, the PD's were quite civil. West Covina is a bit skittish right now, particularly since the city recently had to cough up $20 G's and make a public apology to Josh Connole, Brea Vigil Organizer, for false arrest. Josh is now free to switch his focus for wrongful arrest to the FBI. We all know it's not in the purview of Mueller's national cops to readily fess up to wrongdoing, particularly now that George Tenet is history with the CIA and both the agencies now appear to be in disarray.

We had a two-person, one-hour demo at Rosemead and Valley. It was kind of sad. Thank you Rosa! The good news was that we got a lot of honks of support. I think one car of fools was against us. The rest were cool. The people driving by were mostly Latino, white, and Asian. We guessed that the Asians were the least likely to honk, but, we're quiet people. I think they need the encouragement of a big crowd. The Latinos were good at honking... but I expected that. Now they just have to register and vote! One thing's for certain. People in Benzes don't honk for us. My main problem was that I hadn't organized early enough, so people could not commit to participate. Procrastination did me in, again. Live and learn. This was my first attempt to do something like this without the support of a pre-existing organization. Despite this, one thing I did learn was that there are a number of people who were interested. Another thing I learned is that the city is paying for a whole lot of American flags to fly along Valley Blvd. After our hour or so, we packed it up, got some lunch at Carl's Jr. (where our designated cop was :-P ) and then went over to West Covina, which was hopping. WC was awesome. There were lots of people, and lots of support from the shoppers at the mall. The funniest thing was when a lady from Mexico who opposed us yelled at us to "go home" (as she passed by in an SUV). Sorry, lady; we may not look it, but we were born here, and we don't have to "prove" anything about "being American." After WC, we went to that punk show that CFC was putting on. It wasn't going, so we went to the Dollar Dream store, which is like the 99c store, but bigger. That place was a trip. You can get a plastic Jesus on a cross for a dollar. You can get a Chinese handbag for a dollar. They had a lot of ceramic dolls for a dollar. And, of course, they had American flags, made in China, for a dollar. It's like there are factories in China making all of this stuff, and shipping it straight to Los Angeles. And, from there, eventually to our landfills. Something's weird in the world when milk costs $4 a gallon, vegetables are $2 a pound, healthy bread is $3 a loaf, but a plastic Jesus is a buck. Rent takes half a working person's income, houses sell for $700,000, health care costs keep rising, dental care is often unavailable, but McDonald's sells a 99c double cheeseburger, and an American flag, made in another country, is a dollar.

Rent takes half a working person's income,
houses sell for $700,000
Est. # of illegals in California: 2,200,000 Combine that with an artificial housing shortage created in part by "greens" and their anti-human Gaia-centric quasi-religion.
health care costs keep rising, dental care is often unavailable,
perhaps we need MORE government interference in health care, since it's done such a wonderful job of ensuring access and quality since the 60s.
but McDonald's sells a 99c double cheeseburger, and an American flag, made in another country, is a dollar.
Capitalism works where it's allowed to flourish. California prosperity exists IN SPITE of liberals, not because of them.

Expecting to be a participant in something cool., I went to my pre-arranged street corner without a sign. No one else was there either so I biked to the big downtown march instead.
To bad I didn't participate earlier and coordinate with folks who stated on-line that they were going to show up. It could a been cool, autonomous and more public then the downtown dealio (which was fun in its own way) but.....
But latter on that night, I went dancing at a club and by the end of the night we had the DJ anouncing through the mic "Peace in the Middle East. Fuck Bush!"

At our location, the Buck Fush event brought out a lot of vigilers who we hadn't seen in a while (plus new people). We distributed tons of flyers. The first 100 were gone within an hour.
Although the motorists' response was mostly positive, it wasn't as positive as a few weeks ago when the prison scandal topped the news. It's a sad--and disturbing--statement that people seem to be forgeting the prison torture so quickly.

Yeah, and after the liberal media worked so hard to milk it for all its worth (while burying the Nick Berg murder).

It takes lots of time to get the word out. It's all about advertising & out reach. You really need to post 1000's of flyers all the time to get your numbers up.
I think all the vigils should get together and have a conference to discuss ideas.
Most vigils are on Friday nights. Maybe this is not the best time for people?
Also vigils can get boring. So try different things like marching to other places. Sidewalk marches do not require a permit and you will reach more people than standing there waving at motorists that honk. Or do some other kind of action in your area. Like going to freeway overpasses with large signs or target sites in your area like JROTC at high schools or army recruitment centers

"It's a sad--and disturbing--statement that people seem to be forgeting the prison torture so quickly."
Perhaps because after a while people have realized that there really wasn't any torture to begin with. Just the simple teasing of a handful of murdering savages.
By the way, get out of Eagle Rock.

For the ignorant people above who don't know about how immigrants pay taxes with no benefits from cutting your lawns and wiping your baby's asses, go watch Sergio Arau's movie and get a clue.
Those in denial of torture are just on crack. Put down the pipe and accept the truth. The Pinochet Principle wont cut it either; you're just vile.
Peace out to the people who turned out and helped express what many are feeling, buck fush!!!!

Ignorant crybaby liberals who WANNABE (yes that is also what you are) anarchists but don't have the balls. Do the rest of us a favor and just LEAVE the country, go live on a GODDAM island somewhere, smoke your F*CKING ganga, and make peace signs in the sand. Or you could drown on the way there but that would be hoping for too much. Martin
