MELISSA BEING FOLLWED BY FBI!

by Anonymous Monday, May. 17, 2004 at 10:31 PM

Melissa, another anarchist, is being followed by FBI, she and other have been followed all Sunday.

melissa since sunday morning has been being followed by FBI vihicles.

Several others were followed that morning as well.

But melissa had been pulled over by PD who searched her vehicle, and who were in it on a traffic violation. 5 were brought in, but after jail support were released.

We left to drive them home, still being followed, after dropping them off soon after 10:30 pm we were pulled over. by our followers who identified thereselves as FBI.

We werent detained or arrested, but they mentioned ALF, propain in her car, ALF signs, and a brown liquid jug.

It seems the FBI are getting ready to frame someone.

After she left me, they still followed her. She is still being followed right now.

As soon as I get a call ill tell whats up....

update

thanks to those posting information about our situations. the current situation with me is: i'm safe at the house of a member of the NLG but there are still vehicles surrounding the house. after dropping off lib weekend speakers, members of SCAF headed down to OC for the gathering. we were being followed by 4 vehicles. because we didn't have a safe place to go, we hung out at native foods- we had two attorneys with us. after we left, we were immediantely pulled over by police- 7 cars & a helicopter. the arrested most everyone inside for not wearing seat belts (they also searched my car)- there were 8 of us total. i was told that i did not have the right to consult with an attorney. they ripped my cell phone away as i tried to call one of them. 5 were taken to the station and released due to jail solidarity- we were still being followed. after taking most home, there were only two of us left but now we were being followed by 7 cars. close to my friends house we were ordered to pull over by the fbi. they ordered us out of my car and indetified themselves as fbi. the told me there were ALF signs in my car (that the deputy "noticed" during the illegal search) there were none in my car. the asked me about propane tanks i had used for camping. the asked me about a brown jar with liquid- there is none. finally they asked me about ELF & ALF. several other activists were followed and harassed this weekend. all entrances to hart park, where the SCAF meeting was set to take place, were blocked off. will keep people posted. support for everyone involved is needed and much appreciated.

Where can we get up to the minute information? Indymedia? Can we organize a commitee to keep this site up to date with your situation and put together jail support, etc.

Not an isolated incident

Could L.A. activists write up something more polished and post it on Infoshop News? You should all know that you aren't alone in experiencing this type of harassment.

another update

by melissa Tuesday, May. 18, 2004 at 5:44 PM

First of all, the support we're all receiving is amazing. thank you so much to everyone who has offered us space & assistance- in particular the AV and GC collectives- that is the only defense we have. i'm currently ok, but expecting to be raided soon. below is an update on the situation of others. a defense committee and support network are forming. to help or for questions, please write me at faradawn@riseup.net. there will be a press conference wednesday.

Everyone involved with organizing Liberation Weekend (as well as some participants) has been either arrested or are being followed by the FBI. Included in that list is myself, Nik Hensey, David Agranoff, and members of anarchist collectives down here. More details below. Nik was arrested Saturday on BS charges and as far as I know, is still being followed. Rob Middaugh, a former political prisoner who was going to audio record the conference and distribute it to other political prisoners was arrested by the FBI on his way over to the conference and is currently being held. Agents showed up today in San Diego at the home of David Agranoff and other SD activists. People on their way from Oakland to the conference were stopped on the grapvine and arrested because of a broken tail-light (which was infact not broken). they spent the night at the station. they were asked if they were heading to the forum.

we'll have a statement out soon.

Panic and Mayhem, Bah!

The Ambassador Road Crew? I love it! Sounds like a great moniker for rogue FBI agents á là the main characters in The Shield. I'll make millions if I can sculpt it into a story.

Really now, would an FBI whistleblower post "Melissa will be arrested soon" on la.indymedia? Would an FBI secret agent man seeking to terrorize her? Come up with something original, try it out on Love Line, and if they detect your bullshit, refine it before you post it here. We have better bullshit detectors.

solidarity

ARA condemns this outrageous police/FBI repression. We were at the Saturday conference, doing a workshop that ironically incorporated themes about COINTELPRO and political prisoners, but because of schedule and transportation conflicts couldn't get to OC on Sunday. It's more than a little suspicious that the Ku Klux Klan managed to show up at the site of the OC SCAF gathering when all the anarchists trying to get there were conveniently being rounded up and harassed by the cops and the feds.

by Buckethead Friday, May. 21, 2004 at 7:14 AM

Is this the Chantel I sat behind in Chemistry? Remember me, I used to play the clarinet in the school band. You used to call me "geekboy" but I could tell you really dug me.

Way to lash out at the "pigs" and protect sister Melissa. That'll show 'em!

SHERMAN AUSTIN DID NOT DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL!

by MEETOO Wednesday, May. 26, 2004 at 4:19 PM

iN RESPONSE TO

"In past years, anarchists in Southern California were primarily targeted by local police forces, but more recently, since the Sherman Austin raid, the FBI has involved itself immediately. This time, there is no indication that the young activists involved with the conference have done anything illegal. "

Sherman Austin did not do anything illegal. Nik Hartman authored and posted the Reclaim Guide. Please correct the text on the main page of la.indymedia and be careful of Hartman!

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to imply that Sherman was guilty. Thanks for catching that.

Concerned about Nik

by concerned Thursday, May. 27, 2004 at 4:32 PM

I hope the Nik in the car who was released isn't the same Nik that posted the Reclaim GUide on Sherman's server...if yes, we need to ask a few questions of this boy.
