An inmate on death row for 22 years, Williams was recently nominated for a Nobel Prize for his anti-violence children's books, and is the subject of a new movie, Redemption. Williams will address the audience via speakerphone from San Quentin prison at the start of the meeting.

Other Speakers include:

Todd Chretien of the Free Kevin Cooper Committee for a California Moratorium and the International Socialist Organization.

Tracy Rice of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition

On February tenth, activist pressure forced the ninth District Court of Appeals to grant a stay of execution for Kevin Cooper, an African-American who has been on death row for 18 years. Cooper's case shows everything that's wrong with the death penalty: it's racist, it targets the poor, and it's even used against innocent people. Come to this meeting to discuss how we can build a movement to stop all executions in California.

Sponsored by: Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, Death Penalty Focus, International Socialist Organization, National Lawyers Guild and California People of Faith Working Against the Death Penalty

This Friday April 23, 6pm SHARP!

Holman United Methodist Church,

3320 W. Adams Blvd, L.A.
