This morning, President Bush called for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would ban same-sex marriages, thus relegating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people to second-class status.
If passed, the U.S. Constitution would be used to deny rights to an entire class of people.

I guess this is as good a place to have this as any.
I have a lot of issues with identity politics. Usually, I'm defending it, but, I also think it's an easy cop out to use identity politics in place of something more tangible.
I think IMC is pretty good on getting racism issues interwoven through the site, less good on integrating the core collective with the various communities in LA.
The situation with gender and feminist issues is a lot worse. I think the site reflects a lot of the sexism of society. I contribute to this bias, and I consider myself a little more clued in than many people.

Go West Hollywood! I am so proud that LA is standing up to Bush's discriminatory threat against the right for people to marry who they love.
I wish I could have been there!!!

When do we do away with other antiquated notions which are so discriminatory?
For instance, when will we legalize polygamy? When will we cease prosecuting lovers due to consanguinity?
Surely we should be free to marry as many people as we would like, and if some of these people happen to be close relations, well that's nobody's business but our own, right?

Beuller? Beuller?
Don't tell me you Leftists don't want to discuss Polygamy?
Don't tell me you don't think it's alright to marry your sisters or cousins?
C'mon, what are you, a bigot?

Sick? How dare you call polygamy sick? Or are you referring to marriage between siblings?
Who are you to judge? Are you some bigot, some self-appointed moral superior?
How's that feel?

nothing is wrong with gay marriage. homosexuals should be allowed to get married just like everyone else. just because they are the same gender doesn't mean that it is wrong.

I hope the amendment that ban's same sex marriage doesn't pass. Isn't love means a person that is special to you?
