January 27, 2004. A short circuit in one of the new meters installed to detect illegal connections, known as "gatos", in Sao Cristovao, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to firemen such incidents involving those devices are frequent. Repairmen from Light Serviços de Eletricidade, a privatized energy distribution company, took about 2 hours to attend to emergency call.
