Target refuses to support the war and the people who wage war as part of their national policy.
Need a reason to go to Target? Though they are not a pious organization, selling many slave made products, they have one quality going for them. Read the following statement by an upset war vet (Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association )
-----------------------------------------------------
Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.
We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: "Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay &lesbian causes, and education."
So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.
As a follow-up, I e-mailed the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy.
Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service. Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned corporation.
Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET can not support American Veterans, then why should I and my family support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars and to have their profits sent to France. Without the American Vets, where would France be today?
Feel free to pass this along to whomever you want.
Sincerely,
Dick Forrey, Veterans Helping Veterans.

I will check out this information, and, if true, will never shop at Target again.
I will also urge my family and friends to never shop there as well.
Thanks for the information on a company that's spitting on Americans.
Not allowing Toys for Tots collecting...sheesh! Jerks!

cannot bring back the dead children murdered by the US military, or the Marines.

If you are trying to upset people by saying, "They don't support our troops so I am going to Boycott" don't make us laugh. I am not going to go shop there because they have one great policy when they still import cheap items made in countries by "contract shops" that completely disregard safety and pay their workers slave wages. So GOOD, DON'T SHOP THERE, I don't really care how or why you justify it!

UnBalanced:
Yes, the United States and her military are responsible for killing children.
So why should other children be denied a little simple joy?
You're a creep, intent on politicizing dead children.
1Planet1People:
I'm not trying to upset people. I was stating a simple fact. If we both boycott Target, no matter the reasons, our goals will be accomplished.

This email that has been circulating over the past months IS erroneous. The only truth about it is that the individual who wrote it DID get turned down for a donation, everything else is false.
Here is a quote from the individual who wrote it and a link to read about it for yourselves
A word to the wise...
In the future take 5 min.s to check this stuff out (thats what it took me) just highlight one sentence (or more), then paste it with quotes in a yahoo (or any search engine) search box and hit enter. Whallah!! you now have a couple dozen hits that you can read about. Easy as pie....and Wise.

Dick Forrey, the man who started the anti-Target brouhaha, has since
admitted his mistake:
"I made a mistake on this one, and I've learned a hard lesson - that's for
sure. What started out as a message for the members in our organization has
turned into a hate-type thing. I never wanted to start any national boycott.
I just wish it would all stop."

You are correct that this was a poor story, I am usually better about looking up my facts and I will work harder in the future to not let these things get by me. I should have checked secondary sources and verified the letter. I admit that it was in bad form and was a bad error......
