A plea to the trolls for accurate criticism

by Coffee Anon Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 12:30 AM

It was inevitable to read the news anywhere on the net today without being bombarded by ignorent snarling coming from the "Send the Dixie Chicks to Guantanamo" crowd.

Did anyone in the progressive world say the words, "I support Saddam and his regime"? No. Noboby even came remotely close to hinting at it.

Believe me, I searched for those words in every anti-war statement coming out of indymedia and every other progressive media, trying to understand where you people got the idea that we were pro-Saddam.

It is, admittedly, a delicate dance to describe a sentiment that is anti-war, but not "objectively pro-Saddam"(an inaccurate, slanderous term invented by corporate media, anyway). Especially not in neat little soundbites suitable for your short attention spans.

I believe the only criticism we must shoulder here at indymedia was assuming you would "get it", without having to waste so much energy explaining that simple point. I mean, seriously. You all KNOW that nobody in the progressive social justice movement was ever on Saddam's side? None of us actually mourn his capture. It's just upsetting that we have to spell it out for you people.

"We cannot wait...for the mushroom cloud...", and blah, blah, blah was all a lie. We know it, you know it, EVERYBODY KNOWS IT!

It's already been proven that Iraq was disarmed, however sloppily and cruelly by sanctions, and posed no threat to other nations (never mind that we killed hundreds of thousands of civillians in the process).

That put aside, you should understand that the Iraqi civillians we bothered to ask before invading their country wanted to endure and work out regime change on their own time, in their own way. I, for one, believe they had the will to take back their country from any dictatorship without our help. The Bush admin. KNEW we wouldn't be welcomed as liberators, so 9-11 became the serendipitous propaganda springboard.

Not only did they NOT ask us to remove their dictator for them, what they have now is much, much worse. The media whores love pointing out the meager handful of children going back to school as proof of success, but what they don't like admitting is that we bombed many of their schools, threw out all their Saddam-era textbooks, and that no one can go to school now without dodging bullets on the way.

Capturing a deposed Saddam alive was a meaningless accident that Bush will use as a straw-grasping campaign trick. None of his other photo-ops have managed to fool us, but if it were feasible to airlift Saddam to Madison Square Garden, so the emperor could pose before the adoring masses with his boot planted firmly on the vanquished dictator's neck, I'm sure the White House Communications Office would be tempted to do it. I would not be suprised if George W. appears on the stage at next years' debates wearing a t-shirt with Saddam's mugshot on it.

What a bunch of babbling blather...

by Max Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 12:49 AM

You claim that you don't support Saddam in one breath.

Then you openly admit that you didn't support the forcible removal of him by America in the next breath.

Your delusional thought causes you to believe that the Iraqi people could have, some how, removed Hussein of their own accord, without ending up in potter's graves.

Either you're happy about the regime change or you are not. The Iraqis seem to be pretty happy by the way they're frolicking about on CNN right now.

Just because you haven't openly spoken the phrase "I love Hussein" doesn't mean that you don't.

Actions speak louder than words. Your actions AND your words lead me to believe you'd rather have seen Hussein massacre his entire population than to to give your own worthless life for their liberation.

That makes you a coward and a traitor to humankind.

Tell Us Some More Of Your Lies

by . Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 1:01 AM

>Did anyone in the progressive world say the words, "I support Saddam and his regime"? No. Noboby even came remotely close to hinting at it.

Max said it already, but I will too.

Bullshit!! You don't have to mouth the words. You either supported his forceable removal or you wanted him to stay in power. The world is often black and white and this is one of those times. Just because your liberal mind(lessness) makes you see 10,000 shades of gray everywhere you look is further evidence that you don't have any concept of reality.

>You all KNOW that nobody in the progressive social justice movement was ever on Saddam's side? None of us actually mourn his capture.

Tells your lies somewhere else. He was your hero. You marched in the streets to protest his regime being destroyed. Don't try and make out like you're glad he's gone. It's going to fall on deaf ears. It's time to take responsibility for your past actions. You made your bed, lie in it.

Damn, can't you weasles take a position on anything and stick with it? Grow a fucking backbone someday, will ya!!

au contraire (for you french lovers)

by fresca762 Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 1:01 AM

Make absolutely NO MISTAKE. The anti-war crowd most assuredly supported Sadam. By DIRECTLY acting against his removal and the end of his murderous regime whether through economic sanctions or military actions, these stooges actively gave support to this bastard. There's no two ways around it. Cry all you want now that he's caught. But we all remeber the many pro Sadam marches from the beginning of this year.
I was at some of them and there was NEVER a mention of his nearly million victims. Not a peep. Only American bashing for wanting to fight him AND islmic fascism.

You're all pathetic and merely figures of fun anymore.

Cry us a river.

question

by huh Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 1:50 AM

so, when exactly did bush senior go from saddam lover to saddam hater.

If I remember correctly, he didn't kick him out of power.

So, by your logic, Bush Senior is a saddam lover.
He also argued publicly at one point, as reported in the NYT's that he didn't think the war was the best idea.

So, I guess Daddy Bush is a saddam lover too.

Of course not. But your black and white logic is astounding.

by Barney Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 2:11 AM

Bush senior should have EXACTLY the same views as everyone else in the GOP.

Right?

That's not how it works among conservatives. We are individuals who respect each other's views and reach decisions by concensus, not by following the guy with the megaphone.

We're not communists.

HAHAAHAA That's is hilarious. I can't believe there's consensus in the Republican party when you have some gangbang hash head like Schwartzenegger and the late Strom (let's hide by negro baby) Thurmond in the same party. by again, please Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 2:36 AM

When exactly did the Bush crime family actually control the white house when ex CIA director, Bush1 entered the office of vice president? Not too long after he was shot or in surgury for colon cancer(?). Mostly he stayed at the ranch while Bush1 ran things.
He sure didn't mind arming him to the teeth. I remember Henry Gonzales, on the floor of the House, trying to dissuade the vote on appropriations to Iraq through dept of Agriculture loans as he pointed out that they were being used for armorment. Republicans in lock step, with paid for Dems, passed it.
I always laugh for this comic Usual Selective Amentia.

don't put words in my mouth.
I didn't even bring up the word conservative. Not all conservatives supported the war (ie Ron Paul , a conservative republican from Texas).

So again, does the fact that George Bush senior didn't take out saddam the first time, and is on record for being at least a little skeptical about the war make him a saddam lover?

I don't think so, but what do you think?

Two choices.

1. Saddam stays in power.

2. Saddam is removed.

That's all there are; there are no more possible options.

Now, you so-called "progressives" (who want the US to progress to 1958 Soviet Union) opposed Option 2.

That means you automatically supported Option 1.

See how simple that is? No amount of spin on your part will lessen your guilt, your complicity in the murders commited by Saddam.

No amount of hand-washing in your pure self-righteous indignation will remove the blood on your hands.

It really is this simple: You worked (if the silly, effeminate waving of signs and chanting can be called work) to allow Saddam to keep killing and torturing Iraqis. You arrogantly assumed you knew what was better for the Iraqis than the Iraqis did...despite your never having been there. You hid behind the protections of the Constitution and denied Iraqis those same basic human rights. You sat over here in your relative luxury and said the Iraqis didn't deserve the same opportunites.

Worst and most contemptable of all was the racist, superior attitude of the (cowardly, as it turned out) human shields. "They Coalition won't DARE bomb us, because we're white Westerners!"

Face it, you prog scum: You don't and never have given a DAMN about Iraqis. All you wanted to do is foil the goals of the Bush administration, and you don't care how many little brown people you sacrificed to achieve your aim.

Save your denials. Your lies are too obvious.

The only problem is that the truth can never be undermined.

There will never be a real trial of Saddam Hussein

by Meyer London Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 5:20 PM

Either the US will make a deal with him for easy terms, he will mysteriously die in prison, or there will be some kind of military style tribunal with regulated testimony and a military lawyer for Hussein. Otherwise, he would be likely to discuss the following: CIA assistance in putting him in power in the first place, encouragement from Reagan and Bush to launch the bloody and unprovoked invasion of Iran in 1980, the gas and other weapons of mass destruction he received from the US, US naval assistance he received during the war with Iran, the go-ahead Hussein received from Bush 1 to launch the invasion of Kuwait before Bush then doublecrossed him, the slant-drilling Kuwait was doing to get Iraqi oil (one of the causes of the invasion), encouragement Hussein received from various US administrations to suppress Shiites and Marxists, knowledge he may have of US collaboration with Bin Laden, and intelligence assistance Hussein received from the CIA in picking Iranian targets. And, finally , his possible knowledge of any nuclear threats that Israel has made to Arab nations and which the US did not seek to prevent.

I'll give it a go.

Bush Sr. followed the U.N. resolution to a "T", which only called for the forcible removal of Saddam from Kuwait, not to pursue him back into Baghdad.

You're absolutely right that Bush Sr. should have squashed that roach back then, but unfortunately he was too nice.

He paid the price in that it cost him his re-election. And the rest of us paid the price in that we had to deal with 8 years of that philandering Clinton.

Things have changed now. 9-11 is behind us and Bush W. isn't as nice as his father.

mass graves

by Meyer London Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 7:02 PM

And why was it that Carter, Reagan, and Bush 1 were enthusiastically supporting Saddam Hussein while he was putting people in those mass graves? It couldn't be that they thought his actions were serving the interests of US corporations, could it? And why did the US turn against him all of a sudden? Because all of a sudden the US felt guilty about the mass graves? Or because they thought that Hussein was becoming too powerful and independent and because Bush 1 was being prodded by zionists and by Israel that Iraq was becoming a military threat to the Holy State? The campaing against Hussein began months before the invasion of Kuwait, with alarming stories planted in news magazines about how Iraq's "might" somehow formed a threat to the United States.

So why not. As the ONLY democratic and non-barbaric state in the whole of the middle east. And as our one true ally fighting on the front lines against the global pestilence of extrem islam, why on earth wouldn't we act to destroy any threats to it?

The Israel thing is pretty tired.

by Max Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 9:13 PM

Seems like everything with these leftists revolves around Israel.

I ain't Jewish and I ain't Islamist. It ain't my fight, and I really don't care how it turns out. I support the Jews because:

1.) Israel belongs to them. Period. They had no place to go during the holocaust, and now they have a home.

2.) Islam has demonstrated itself a radical religion; it's inhumanity knows no bounds. Any religion that dictates you to strap bombs to your children, castrate your daughters, and fly planes into skyscrapers is a pestilence that should be eradicated.

Furthermore, the situation in Iraq has absolutely NOTHING to do with the situation in Israel.

What it has to do with is mass graves, 9-11, and threatening postures of tyranical third world radical islamic dictators that defy Global resolutions for decades.

I bet Hussein is pissing his pants right about now. I bet he's kicking the shit out of himself.

He was a billionaire. He was leader of a huge chunk of profitable middle eastern real estate. He could have been the saviour of all of Islam, and instead he chose to be a pissant defiant third world scumbag.

more nonsense

by Meyer London Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at 9:27 PM

Mass graves and 9/11 had nothing to do with the illegal invasion of Iraq. They were weak justifications used after the fact, when everyone saw what a lie the wmd story was. Saddam did not carry out 9/11, and while he executed a large number of people, the United States was enthusiastically backing him while he did it, as well as when he launched his illegal invasion of Iran. Israel had a great deal to do with the war; zionist lobbyists and pro-zionist people in the US Congress (such as Lieberman) were among the most enthusiastic backers of the war, and the zionist neocons around Bush shouted energetically for it. Bush carried out the war with the double aim of pleasing the oil companies and pleasing zionist pressure groups; mass graves and fantasies of Hussein planning 9/11 or possessing nuclear weapans played no role at all, except as instruments to shore up support for the war among the simple minded.

"Thousands upon thousands of children died in an unjust war. "

This is a perfect example of the mindlessness of the typical figure of fun around here.

First of all the war was absolutely "just" but I'll grant that that's a matter of opinion, but trying to claim that "thousands and thousands" of children died is simply nonsense. There's no evidence of that. There's not even any claims of that from the inane leftist lie machines.

You're an ass. Plain and simple.

And as far as the Inglewood case goes, I'm flattered that I've captivated you so much that you've searched my posts.

Not a single one

"So Israel is the only nation that counts. "

In the middle East? Of course. Not even close. In the civilized world? Nope. Simply one of many.

"Nothing like admitting that the mass graves don't have anything to do with anything."

Show me one instance where I've mentioned Sadams mass murders and graves as anything other than a barometer of what an evil and obvious threat he was to us and others. After 9-11, we of course needed to finally intervene in the middle eawst militarily. Iraq, with this monster in charge was simply a convienient and justified place to start and base operations. Had Syria or Iran a leader as unabashedly evil and high profile as Saddam, we might have started there.

" Cut out the hypocrisy, Fresca baby. I be you've really shed a lot of tears over the 25,000 people put in graves by the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982."

Nope. not a one. Most of these "palestinians" were killed by Lebanese Christians and any other of arafats monsters who caught one is good riddance.

Lost what argument?

by Max Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 at 1:38 PM

I haven't seen a valid one presented by you leftists in this thread yet.

The only thing I've seen so far is a bunch of whining, pissing, moaning and complaining.

Bottom line is that Saddam is gonna fry like an albino on the beach, and that doesn't seem to make you liberals very happy.
