November 22, 2003 was warm and sunny, eerily similar to the weather, as described by those who were present That Day 40 years ago. So many thousands gathered by the noon hour that all of Elm Street, including the white "x" marking the spot where President Kennedy suffered the fatal head shot, was completely obscured

Dallas authorities closed Elm Street, where JFK 's motorcade was passing when the shots rang out. Prior to the assassination, Kennedy, and other Presidents used open car parades as an easy way to view, and be viewed by, the ordinary people he is supposed to represent. That Day was the last of such motorcades.

The Dallas Conspiracy Museum, located a block east of the Plaza, organized a march from the Museum to the Grassy Knoll, including a marching band and wreaths. The crowds were so thick that the march had difficulty getting onto Elm Street off Houston, even with the Dallas Police escort. In an irony typical of the JFK assassination investigation, convicted swindler Billy Sol Estes was amongst those carrying the Museum's wreath. In 1963 Estes' fraudulent agricultural leases were a major embarrassment to then Vice President Johnson. Some, including one of Johnson's former attorneys, Barr McClellan claim the Estes scandal lead to the JFK assassination. The Museum chose Estes because he donated many of his original letters from Johnson, on his Senatorial and Vice Presidential stationary, to the Museum. This refutes the LBJ Library's claims that Johnson did not have a close relationship to the swindler

The former Minnesota Governor [seated, wearing tan baseball cap] was among the speakers at the Memorial, which included witnesses to the assassination. He asked, "Why am I the only politician here?" Indeed no elected officials were present for the impromptu ceremony, which is held annually on November 22. Venutra is one of the few elected officials to proclaim publicly his belief in a conspiracy in the JFK assassination. Polls show about 77 % of the public believe in a conspiracy.
