All you patriots My Lai = Samarra

by OzzyTeppics Friday, Dec. 05, 2003 at 4:41 AM

The My Lai courts-martial are the stories of two tragedies growing out of American involvement in Viet Nam. One was the massacre by United States soldiers of as many as 500 unarmed civilians-- old men, women, children--in My Lai on the morning of March 16, 1968. The other was the cover-up of that massacre...

Yep you read it right all you flag huggers out there 500 civilians including men women and children massacred by the US Army, bet your flag hugging buddies don't talk about this much.

Yep all the flag huggers were parading around after this "great victory" back then saying good for the "Ho Chi Minh Scumbags" they deserved it sound familiar?

False analogy

by Barney Friday, Dec. 05, 2003 at 4:56 AM

Anybody with a brain not dulled by drugs would realise that there are no parallels between the events at My Lai and the wonderful victory over the armed bank-robber bandits at Samarra.

Atrocities happen even in the best regulated armies when the chain of command becomes stretched as it did occasionally in Vietnam.

The conditions in Iraq are entierly different. It's amazing that there are people hoping that the international forces will pull out of Iraq allowing Saddam's thugs to seize control of the country again.

Why would people want that??

The question is: why?

know what an anal-ology is. Your head is still in the stone age. And you talk about

drugs. You need to get off the rock."

"There's somethin' scary about the army invadin' other people's backyards. Its a

Uh, Ozzy, I don't remember anyone ever "parading" around and supporting the massacre at My Lai.

In fact, the main perpetrator of the massacre, an Amercian Lieutenant (Calley I believe his name was) was court-martialled for the crime.

If you had bothered to read the articles you linked to you would have noticed that the Army court-martialled Lt. Calley on murder charges 2 MONTHS before anyone in the US heard about the massacre.

But since you know so much and are so well versed in history, kindly produce a single news item from the time which uses language that defends Lt. Calley or celebrates his actions. I'll wait.

Furthermore, kindly explain how the massacre at My Lai has anything whatever to do with what occurred at Samarra? No one, not even Robert Fisk, has claimed that there was a 'massacre' at Samarra, instead it is universally held to have been a very neat military engagement. But again, since you know so much where is your documentation to back up you claims?

I suspect we won't be hearing much more from you.

Vietnam, Iraq

by Meyer London Friday, Dec. 05, 2003 at 7:05 PM

It was hardy a neat operation if elderly civilians were killed, allegedly because they were caught in some kind of "crossfire." Just imagine if heavily-armed Iraqis had launched an attack on New York or Tel Aviv and elderly civilians were killed this way. We'd never hear the end of it - more evidence that Arabs are savages, that Islam is inferior to Judaism and Christianity, that Israeli repressive measures are obviously justified, that more Middle Eastern countries have to be invaded by Israel or the United States.

As for the Calley court martial, that was a joke. He had been told by his superiors that they wanted to see bodies, and lots of them. That is what they got. They were never put on trial, and the only reason why Calley was tried was public relations after Seymour Hersch exposed the incident in the press. As is usual in the military or in corporations, a low level supervisory flunky took the heat while the head criminals went free.

As for Calley, he soon went free. I believe he became a jewelry store owner in Atlanta.

Meyer you moral midget:

Some 3,000 or so innocent people were incinerated or pulverized or leapt to thier deaths in New York alone on 11 Sep 01, so save me your sanctimony.

The Iraqis who attempted to ambush the American convoys in Samarra made the choice of battlefield. True to form, they chose to fight where they could attempt to seek cover behind civilians. How typically brave.

Tell me, exactly how many 'elderly' Iraqis were killed, and what evidence do you have that it was the Americans who killed them? At last count, the Army was claiming 46 Iraqi scumbags eradicated, and all the wounded in the hospital, despite claims of innocence from their relatives, are suspiciously male and of military age. Hmmm, that's a coincidence.

Furthermore, you haven't answered the question: What similarity is there to what happened at My Lai and what happened at Samarra?

I'll give you a hint: None.

Ozzy couldn't find any documentation which suggests Americans supported the massacre at My Lai, and the best you can do to support a claim of 'massacre' at Samarra is to bring up unnamed and unnumbered 'elderly' persons.

Oh, how convincing. Really well well done. Yep, Iraq IS a lot like Vietnam. I see that now.
