ABOUT THE FILM:
Michael Moore's Oscar award-winning documentary, "Bowling for Columbine,"
a humorous and horrifying film about the violent soul of America. Why do
11,000 people die in America each year at the hands of gun violence? Why do
Americans kill each other more often than people in any other democratic
nation? And what is the link between corporate greed and the epidemic of
American violence that leaves so many of us desperately clutching our
Constitutionally-guaranteed Uzi's? From Columbine High School security
tapes, to the young man who makes homemade napalm with The Anarchist's
Cookbook, to the murder of one six-year-old girl by another six-year-old,
the film takes us to that familiar world where 280 million Americans live in
a culture of fear...
The library is in downtown Glendale, at 222 E. Harvard Street, at the corner
of Harvard and Louise. That intersection is just east of Brand Blvd, between
Broadway and Colorado. From the 134 Fwy, take the Brand Blvd exit going
south, past Broadway to Harvard. Turn left on Harvard, going east, to
Louise. From the 5 Fwy, take the Colorado exit, going east to Louise. Turn
left on Louise, going north to Harvard.
There is free street parking after 6pm in the area near the library. You
also can get three hours of free parking, with a Glendale Library validation
(obtained at the event) at the Marketplace parking structure across from the
library. Enter the structure on Maryland, one block east of Brand, just
north of Harvard.
This event is sponsored by the GLENDALE PEACE VIGIL. We meet every Friday
from 5-7+ pm, on the corner of Brand and Broadway in Glendale, to peacefully
demonstrate our objections to current U.S. policies, distribute educational
materials addressing issues of peace and justice, and talk with members of
our community about current events. Everyone sharing our concerns is welcome
to join us!
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS INFORMATION WIDELY AND EXCUSE DUPLICATE LISTINGS.
