After a long day of making money by exploiting the working poor, I came home yesterday and flipped on the computer. I came to LA-IMC to catch up on the latest nonsense, when lo and behold someone by the name of “Hex anon w/ encryption” is telling everyone how articles just published regarding the 1967 incident with the USS Liberty and the Israeli Air Force, as he put it,“when they see the mainstream media spread this story world-wide to millions of people in an unprecedented exposure of the truth that nails Israel cold and starts a chain reaction of suspicion and fact finding.”

Naturally, I was suspicious. October 15, 2003 had passed by and I had noticed that this Hex fellow had been caught in another lie, so why should I believe him now. I casually laughed it off and went to eat dinner and watch the game.

When I turned on the TV, instead of the game, the network was with the national newsanchor giving a special report, “USS Liberty: Worldwide Outrage”. What?!? How could this be true? I changed the channel. Every major network: ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNBC, MSNBC, even PBS and ESPN were all reporting on the new revelations regarding the USS Liberty! Worldwide protests around the globe, millions upon millions in the streets in London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Moscow, Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney, Tokyo, New Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, and in all the major Canadian and US cities. Billions and billions of people in the street chanting, marching, carrying signs saying “USS Liberty: Whatreallyhappened?” I couldn’t believe my eyes! Hex was right!

I went back online and checked all the major on-line news sources. Everyone of them, reports on the USS Liberty dominated the headlines and content.

This is too much. I called my friend. We’ve been working on a mod race car, rebuilding the engine and we had meant to get together after the weekend to continue our work. When I call him up, instead of the usual “Hello”, he says “I don’t know who this is calling, but can you believe this USS Liberty shit!?! We need to investigate this and get to the bottom of what happened!”

This morning I get up to confirm a meeting with a client. His business, a total of over 800 employees, are all taking the day off to march in solidarity over the new information regarding the USS Liberty.

I get the newspapers this morning. The New York Times, the LA Times and The Wall Street Journal, all have dedicated their entire newspapers today, from cover to cover, to the story of the USS Liberty and to demand an investigation take place.

Even all the Indymedias center columns are all dedicated to the story of the USS Liberty and calling for investigations.

I’m driving the kids to school this morning. Protesters lining the streets everywhere. Billboards have been redone overnight, demanding that investigations be conducted about the USS Liberty.

Hex, I owe you an apology. You are a true visionary. The worldwide insistence upon finding the truth regarding the USS Liberty was on a scale that none of us mere commoners could have imagined.

I, too, experienced the same things as you. Massive unrest everywhere.

This USS Liberty thing is certain to dominate the news for the next year or more. Count on it!

Of course the Israelis were mistaken. They probably thought it was a ship full of impoverished Palestinian refugees and their children. Therefore, it was ok to sink it.
