Locked out workers at a Ralph’s grocery store in Los Angeles got a surprise Saturday morning when a group of local Green Party members showed up offer free massages to workers on the picket lines. Listen here to the report! 8 mins 3 sec (MP3: 2 MB at 32 kbps)
So are you actually saying that only the members of the same all inclusive union who work at Vons wanted to strike? That those at Ralph's , even though they voted to stike and had prepared for it, weren't actually going to strike. That they wanted to work but that the evil bosses kicked them out?
Give us a break. Management may have beaten them to the punch but this whole deal is completely the work of the unions. I'll bet alot of these fools are willing to pay the 15$ a week copay increase now.

Here are the definitions from dictionary.com:
lockout - The withholding of work from employees and closing down of a workplace by an employer during a labor dispute. Also called shutout.
A management action resisting employee's demands; employees are barred from entering the workplace until they agree to terms.
(and a very pro-business definition) The closing of a factory or workshop by an employer, usually in order to bring the workmen to satisfactory terms by a suspension of wages.
There are no definitions that would indicate that a lockout is a management action to prevent workers who wish to work from working. Logically, any business owner would not want to close up a shop, because profits are a result of sales, and sales are a result of work. If there's no work getting done, then the business owner makes no money.
