UFCW workers on Strike are asking that People to come together at a rally outside of the VONS in Yorba Linda to mark the 1 week of the workers strike

Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) are employed by the Vons, Pavilions, Ralph’s and Albertson’s chains. The union called a strike and set up picket lines last Saturday night against Vons and Pavilions, both of which are owned by the Safeway supermarket giant. Following the strike against Vons, workers who belong to the UFCW were locked out of work by Ralph's and Albertson's. This is the first grocery strike to take place in southern California within the past 25 years. We MUST come together as a community to support our local workers who help us EVERYDAY!

Last week, 50,000 clerks and baggers, who belong to seven UFCW locales, voted by a 98 percent margin to reject the employers’ demands. These include less pay and benefits for new hires, drastic givebacks in health and pension benefits, an increase in healthcare co-payments, reductions in premium pay, and an alteration of current union-work rules.

The strike is currently being supported and endorsed by the Teamsters, SEIU, Bakers union, and The Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union (HERE).

If you cannot attend the Yorba Linda rally please go by your local Vons, Ralph’s, Pavilion’s or Albertson’s to support and help picket with the workers and mark the 1st week of this very important strike!

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL WORKERS ATTEND THE RALLY!
