Mahathir Mohamad called on Muslims to emulate the Jewish response to oppression, saying the Jews had "survived 2000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking".
Jews rule the world: Mahathir
Agence France-Presse, October 16, 2003
Putrajaya (AFP) - JEWS rule the world, getting others to fight and die for them, but will not be able to defeat the world's 1.3 billion Muslims, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has told a major Islamic summit.
"The Europeans killed six million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them," Mahathir said, adding, "1.3 billion Muslims cannot be defeated by a few million Jews."
The veteran Malaysian premier, who has become notorious for his controversial speeches during his 22 years as leader of this moderate Muslim country, was addressing the opening session of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) summit.
He told the biggest gathering of Muslim leaders since the 2001 attacks on the United States that all Muslims were suffering "oppression and humiliation", with their religion accused of promoting terrorism.
Acknowledging weakness and division in the organisation's ranks, Mahathir said they could at least take a common stand on the Palestinian struggle against Israel and it was time to plan a "counter-attack" against the enemies of Islam who treated Muslims with "contempt and dishonour".
He called on Muslims to emulate the Jewish response to oppression, saying the Jews had "survived 2000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking".
"They invented and successfully promoted socialism, communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so they may enjoy equal rights with others.
"With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries and they, this tiny community, have become a world power.
"We cannot fight them through brawn alone, we must use our brains also," he said.
"Of late because of their power and their apparent success they have become arrogant. And arrogant people like angry people will make mistakes, will forget to think.
"They are already beginning to make mistakes. And they will make more mistakes. There may be windows of opportunity for us now and in the future. We must seize these opportunities."
Mahathir, however, who has in the past condemned Palestinian suicide bombers as "terrorists", appeared to suggest that it was time for an end to violence against the Israelis.
"Over the past 50 years of fighting in Palestine we have not achieved any result. We have in fact worsened our situation."
He said the Koran "tells us that when the enemy sues for peace we must react positively. True the treaty offered is not favourable to us. But we can negotiate".
He said he was aware that this proposal could not be popular and its opponents "would want to send more young men and women to make the supreme sacrifice. But where will all these lead to? Certainly not victory."
However, he did call on Muslims to match their studies of religion with attention to science and mathematics because "we need guns and rockets, bombs and warplanes, tanks and warships for our defence".
This was apparently a reference to what he sees as a broader assault on Muslims by the Western world in the guise of the war on terrorism. He said enemies of Islam "attack and kill us, invade our lands, bring down our governments".
Among the more than 30 Muslim leaders present for the summit are Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia and Megawati Sukarnoputri, the president of the world's largest Muslim country Indonesia.

After the murderous April 27 attack in Adura, which is located west of Hebron, and in which 4 people were killed and seven wounded, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said that responsibility for the attack should be placed on Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat and the PA. The prime minister is wrong. The responsibility for the attack must be attributed to hatred of the Jews that has enveloped the world, only sixty years after the
Holocaust. Arafat and his cronies are mere instruments of this hate. The PLO was established by Egypt as a weapon to destroy Israel and her inhabitants. Since Israel is a Jewish state, the Jews were, and still are the primary targets of the creators of this organization. Time passed and the PLO, a wholly anti-Semitic entity, took on a life of its own. Part of it was transformed into the Palestinian Authority (PA), which promotes hatred of Jews in its
schools and media, competing with Egypt, its godfather. In order to defeat the enemy we must understand one simple thing. It is not only Israel that fights for her existence, it is the entire Jewish people that is in grave and mortal danger. Assault on Israel is an assault on all Jews. Undoubtedly, a great many Jews still do not see this danger and try to console themselves with the thought that if only Israel would 'listen' to the world community,
the wildfire of anti-Semitism would easily be extinguished, since it is "Israel's stubbornness" that fans the flames. The great prophet of Zionism Zeev Zhabotinsky wrote in 1911, "We are disliked not because we are blamed for a thousand different things, but we are blamed because we are disliked." Today the attack on the Jews marches under the banner of "Palestinian nationalism." Israeli historian and Holocaust researcher Dr. Aryeh Arad noted that
"the world considers national self-determination a 'sacred value' and will not accept an attempt by Israel to prevent the Palestinians from achieving that status." Behind this statement is hidden an enormous lie. National "self-determination" becomes important for the world only when it is directed against the Jews. Somehow the world is not concerned with the self-determination of Kurds or Basques who, as distinct people, really do deserve states of
their own. There is only one explanation for why the world eagerly accepts the "attempts" of Turkey and Spain to prevent the Kurds and the Basques from achieving self-determination, while at the same time rapes Israel. It is the "A" word - anti-Semitism. The "Palestinian people" were invented with only one purpose - to destroy the Jewish state. Zahir Muhsein, a member of the PLO executive committee revealed this in an interview on March 31, 1977 with
the Dutch newspaper "Trau," "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity... In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the
existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa. While as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan." And this is exactly what Arafat, the PLO, the PA and all
the other Arabs are doing. They are demanding Jaffa, Haifa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. They are demanding it loudly and clearly, but the whole world pretends that it is deaf. However, the Arabs are not deaf; they attentively listen to the words of their leaders and act accordingly. MEMRI's dispatch of April 17 reported about the Friday sermon delivered by Palestinian Authority Imam Sheikh Ibrahim Madhi at the Sheikh 'Ijlin Mosque in Gaza City, and
broadcast live on April 12 by Palestinian Authority television. Imam Madhi declared, "We are convinced of the [future] victory of Allah; we believe that one of these days, we will enter Jerusalem as conquerors, enter Jaffa as conquerors, enter Haifa as conquerors, enter Ramle and Lod as conquerors, the [villages of] Hirbiya and Dir Jerjis and all of Palestine as conquerors, as Allah has decree." The message that is sent to the Arabs by this kind of
speech is crystal clear: it does not matter how much land is extracted from Israel in phase one, the war will not stop until the Arabs "liberate" all of Palestine. The world, infected with the virus of anti-Semitism, also understands the message quite well. This is the main reason why it so firmly insists on preserving Arafat's life. If Arafat goes, the card house of "Palestinian nationalism" falls apart, and the "Palestinian people" transforms into
a gang of murderers, lusting for Jewish blood. What else can we call them if, according to a March 13 poll, 87.4% of those questioned "supported the continuation of martyrdom operations against the Zionist entity," and 72.4% "objected to limiting those operations to the West Bank and Gaza Strip areas." The murder of Jewish women and children has been something Arabs have liked to do regardless of Israel's "occupation." Only between 1951 and 1955,
Arabs infiltrating Israel from Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon murdered 922 Israelis. At that time the Jewish state did not have control of the lands of Judea, Samaria, Gaza or the Golan. This means that, according to those who want Israel to withdraw from the "occupied Arab lands," there was no reason whatsoever to attack the Jews. Nevertheless, Jews were murdered then in cold blood exactly as they were on April 27, 2002 in Adura when 5-year-old
Daniella Shefi and 45-year-old Katerina Greenberg were riddled with bullets as they lay in their beds. Let all those who preach for Israel's "withdrawal" explain what will discourage Arabs from murdering Jews if Israel withdraws from a meager 2,268 square miles of land. As Larry Miller wrote on April 22 in "The Weekly Standard": "Think of all the Arab countries as a football field, and Israel as a pack of matches sitting in the middle of it. And now
these same folks swear that if Israel gives them half of that pack of matches, everyone will be pals. Really?" The Arab obsession with Israel and the Jews has mutated into an ugly anti-Semitism that prevents coexistence between Jews and Arabs, at least in the short term. Jew haters cannot be rationally convinced to stop being Jew haters. Appeasement of anti-Semitism has never worked in Jewish history. On the contrary, the more the Jews showed their
vulnerability, the more anti-Semitism grew. There is only one way to deal with anti-Semites who train their weapon on the Jews - they must me eliminated and destroyed. Only after understanding this simple truth will Israel be able to find a solution to the extremely grave situation in which she finds herself. Israel will make a terrible mistake if she allows Arafat to escape from Ramallah. No political considerations can substantiate his release. He
is a thug, a criminal of the caliber of Hitler and Eichmann. He is responsible for the deaths of more Jews than anyone else since the Holocaust. His "struggle for the self-determination of the Palestinian people" is a mere sham used to thinly veil his (and other Arabs') desire to murder Jews. The more he and his cronies are allowed to exist unpunished, the more misery will befall the Jews, and not only in Israel but all over the world as well. Israel
must issue an ultimatum to all those hiding in Arafat's Mukata compound to surrender within 4 hours or be destroyed by Israeli firepower. Whoever exits the compound voluntarily will be investigated and those with Jewish blood on their hands must be tried by a military tribunal. After the expiration of the ultimatum Israel must bomb the compound into smithereens and bulldoze everything level with the ground. Israel must reject any negotiation attempts
with those who want to destroy her. She must clearly show to the world what will be the fate of anyone who dares to threaten her existence and the existence of the Jewish people. The Jewish state was created, among the other reasons, with the purpose of protecting the Jews. Attacks like the one in Adura, in which an Arab pogromschik sprayed Jewish women and small children with bullets on Shabbat, should be the last drop in the bucket of Jewish
patience. If a Jewish mother must push her 4-year old and 1-year old sons under the bed, saying to them, "Be quiet and don't cry, so that they do not come back," that means that all boundaries have been overstepped. It is incomprehensible that pogroms are happening in the Jewish state. Israel has suffered too many of these pogroms already. Mankind did not appreciate her unresponsiveness to the bombings of buses, cafeterias, pizzerias, dance clubs,
shopping malls, wedding halls, etc. When Israel finally tried to punish the murderers while doing everything possible to preserve the lives of Arab civilians (87.4% of whom support the murder of Jews), the world's latent anti-Semitism showed its real face, opening the lid of hatred in dozens of countries through burning synagogues, desecration of Jewish cemeteries, assaults on Jews and vitriolic anti-Semitic articles and caricatures that spilled
across the pages of magazines and newspapers. By now Israel must understand that whatever she does will always be met with uproar and condemnation by the world community. The example of the Jenin blood libel speaks volumes about the anti-Semitic nature of "enlightened" mankind. For them Israel is the collective Jew and thus she is hated. Israel will be hated if she does not destroy Arafat and his gangs and she will be hated if she does destroy
them. It is undoubtedly much better to get rid of at least some of the anti-Semites who have already spilled too much Jewish blood. If they are destroyed they will never come back.
