by Why do you think they call it Dope?
Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003 at 7:19 PM
Noted Talk Show host and Drug War Advocate Rush Limbaugh the Turd is gone into Detox for 30 days.
It was announced today that Rush Limbaugh will be taking a 30 Vacation to try and kick his Drug Habit again.
This follows his being caught up in a Miami Drug Probe involving a Drug Ring dealing in Prescription Pain Killers. Notably among them were Oxycodone and Oxycontin - two drugs which are associated with Hearing loss thus fueling speculation that Mr. Limbaugh's Deafness stems from his continued Drug Abuse.
The question now is whether or not he will be indicted like one of the little people would?
This is a Breaking Story so updates should be forthcoming.

After all, how many people here are spelling the word COLLEGE with an "a" (collage). Or constructing sentences such as "Your an idiot" (Youre an idiot). You are obviously college educated, and this board is populated by...well.....you know. That oxycontin is a real mutha from what I hear!

I read the unedited writing of college educated people, from time to time, for money, and I assure you that education doesn't reliably lead to good spelling or grammar. (You also forgot the apostrophe in "you're," and started a sentence with a conjunction.)
Analagously, I surmise from what I know about drug use by our new Governor, and by the former blowhard named Rush, that participation in the "War on Drugs" doesn't mean that they're not getting high. It might only mean that they're high enough to not care about their own hypocrisy.

I've never been that much of a fan of Rush. He always seemed to have a bit too much schtick going on. So I'm not inclined to feel on way or the other about this as far as most of this goes.
But. I do think that this is a case of "watch what you preach or it might bite you in the ass some day". All his anti-drug and pro-drug war talk, trying to paint the problem as a moral issue can only be described as hypocritical. There's really no way for him to get around that. Not because he was strung out but because, if true, he was copping on the street.
I spent (wasted) alot of years strung out myself and I would have gladly copped oxy if it was available like it was for Rush. No different.
All that said, I also understand the common defense mechanism of loudly preaching a disdain for the very thing that has ahold of you in an effort to hide it's grip from those around you. It never works but junkies always try it.
Anyway, things will go on. He'll have to struggle to get his credibility back (or at least he should). But first he has to get sober and that is not the easiest thing to do.
I suspect he has a couple Clonidine patches on right now and a belly full of Robaxin and Librium.
Lastly, the war on drugs is fruitless. Obviously drugs need to be legalized, but that is a whole 'nother thread I suspect.
