Balancing Your Life And World: A Gift From Dr Wayne Dyer

by Gabrielle Reilly Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 5:54 AM

This article is a gift of wisdom Professor Wayne Dyer regarding the rules of society and how to balance the paradigms we live with to bring order and balance. From the premise he presents we can also assess the fundamental premise of global stability between rich and poor countries, war, peace, poverty and the economy.

Balancing Your Life ...
19atrocity.jpg, image/jpeg, 250x199

“James Carse, in his book Finite and Infinite Games, describes a world of finite games in which winners and losers, rules, boundaries, and time are all extremely important. In the world of finite games, titles acquisitions, and prestige are of paramount significance. Planning, strategy, and secrecy are all crucial. To become a master player in the world of finite games you have an audience who knows the rules and who will grant you a reputation. Being identified with losers in the finite game is frightening and dangerous. The finite game values bodies, things, and reputations. The ultimate loss is death.

In his book, Carse explains that the final result of the finite game is self-annihilation because the machines that we invent to assist in this finite game of winners and losers will destroy those who rely upon them. Technology, marketing, productivity are all terms to encourage players to buy more machines and one’s worth is dependent on how many machines players have and how well they operate them.

There is also the infinite game, which you can begin to play if you so choose. In this game there are no boundaries: the forces are infinite that allow the flowers to grow and those forces cannot be tamed or controlled. The purpose of the infinite game is to get more people to play, to laugh, dance and sing. Life itself is infinitely non-understandable. These forces were here before we were and will continue beyond the boundaries of death and time.

While the finite player must debate and learn the language/rules to operate all the machines, the infinite player speaks from the heart and knows that answers are beyond words and explanations. This is not to imply that players of the infinite game cannot also play finite games, it’s just that they don’t know how to take the finite games seriously.

Dyer

by Meyer London Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 6:15 AM

Dyer is a fraud and a pop psychology quack. His message is that capitalism is fine, there are no victims, and anything that happens to you (presumably including lay-offs, sexual harassment, racial injustice, poverty, physical assault and criminal assault) is your own fault. If only you develop the right attitude and stop the forbidden practice of believing you have been victimized (even if your have) "the sky's the limit." All he has proved is that there are no limits to the b.s. the American public will fall for, as long as it has enough corporate advertising behind it.

Socialism Sux

by economy Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 6:39 AM

Dyer sounds like a quack, but that's beside the point.

Socialism isn't going to help anything. We have a fairly recent history showing just how murderous and unproductive socialism really is.

Besides, it really wouldn't matter in the lives of most of you who feel like capitalism has given too many people the wrong end of the stick. Those of us who are successful would be successful under any economy. If we were under socialism, those of us who are successful under capitalism would be successful under socialism, or communism, or anarchy, or any other "ism". We are successful because of who we are, not because of the particular economy we live under. And there would be those who are poor and despirate because of their own non-productivity who would still be poor and despirate under socialism, and they would come on line and bitch about it.

This fantasy you have that concludes that if people could get capitalism off their backs they could better themselves is just that, a fantasy. Productive people will find ways to increase their production to better themselves. People who are not productive won't, and they will continue to waller in their own poverty and feeling sorry for themselves, despite socialism.

fantasy and bullshit..

by Sheepdog Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 9:38 AM

The socialism that already exists serves the parasites in corporations as in government handouts like subsidies bailouts etc. The success you mention is a rip off of public treasury.
And enriches the usual pigs at the trough.

Success

by sdiafa Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 9:46 AM

View it in whatever convoluted screw-up way you like. When the rubber hits the road, those of us who are successful now would be successful regardless of the type of economy or non-economy, be it marxism or anarchy.

Successful

by Unsuccessful Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 10:42 AM

The only thing you are a success at is posting drivel on this board. How's the monthly check from Mommy and Daddy coming? Is the income from that inheritied rental property holding up? Think you'd be doing well if you grew up in a ghetto, barrio or trailer park? How many of your yuppie friends didn't come from a priveleged background?

Unsuccessful (as if we couldn't already tell)

by back to EV Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2003 at 11:06 AM

Please. We're going to ask for better concentration on your parts.

EV is the name of the game. The above was just a rant without anything substanitve. You're cutting into the time of other competitors.

OK, more of the whacko left-wing crap. Proceed.
