It appears that some right-winger has deliberately set up a phony indymedia site under the domain name of www.beachcitiesimc.org .
Although it presents itself as being a member of the indymedia family, its real purpose is to promote right-wing causes.
I did a whois on the beachcitiesimc.org and came up with the following information:
beachcitiesimc.org
Registrant:
Beach Cities IMC (AVGFIVLLXD)
101 Palos Verdes Drive East
Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90275
US
Domain Name: BEACHCITIESIMC.ORG
Administrative Contact:
IMC, Beach Cities (35828510P) beachcitiesimc@yahoo.com
400 Silver Spur Road
Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90275
US
xxx-xxx-xxxx
Technical Contact:
Network Solutions, Inc. (HOST-ORG) customerservice@networksolutions.com
21355 Ridgetop Circle
Dulles, VA 20166
US
1-888-642-9675 fax: 123 123 1234
Record expires on 25-Aug-2004.
Record created on 25-Aug-2003.
Database last updated on 26-Aug-2003 22:03:55 EDT.
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.DNSEXIT.COM 12.96.164.72
NS2.DNSEXIT.COM 66.161.145.130
The first address appears to be fake as I could find no record of it at Yahoo maps. But the second Rolling Hills address is apparently real. However, that doesn't mean that the person who owns this domain name can be contacted there. It could be just as fake as the first one.
The address:
101 Palos Verdes Drive East
Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90275
US
Is the same address that Ned Lyle supplied for the owner of the KOBEHQ website. The address does not exist. It is across the street from the Palos Verdes Estates police station.
The new website is KOBE.
IMC should sue.
It is "Independant" but it has an editorial bias.
It would be refreshing to see an IMC run by computer professionals who could keep the server up and running and allow UNBIASED news and comments to be posted reliably.
Note to BC-IMC take heed of the unbiased news and views. The ONLY editor intervention should be to correct links, delete duplicate posts and edit posts that cross the guidelines of common decency.
any posts removed should have a brief explanation..
Welcoming a new area IMC
"Although it presents itself as being a member of the indymedia family, its real purpose is to promote right-wing causes"
How do you figure? Who cares what their bias is? If you dont like what they say, then dont go there! Is your mouse possessed?
"That's a no brainer."
Describing yourself, no doubt. Dont the webmasters of all websites have the ability to collect IP information? Here is a prime example, found on Stephen DeVoy's website, Break Your Chains. Not only did you collect IP information, but you e-mailed it to forum moderators for the express purpose of banning people you didnt like. You even tried to identify them personally. I smell a rat here.

They have no bias!!!
YET!
The biggest problem will be to stop the place turning into a "zoo"
My sugesstion to the BC-IMC is that they not only have the standard article publishing and comments feature they also have a forum.
Editors on BC-IMC should REMOVE with a note as to why ANY posts that drift from a direct COMMENT on an article.
Having said that any ARTICLE posted should have TWO pths open, one a COMMENT and the other a DISCUSSION.....
"Comment on the article or discuss the article" Comment is a one way thing, discussion is interactive.
What a couple of kooks. Devoy and SBM are more wacked out of their skulls than sonny from Cocoa Puffs cereal.
