druge doesn't deserve attention

by x Thursday, Jul. 17, 2003 at 12:29 PM

don't bother reading drudge........

go here:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A1663-2003Jul16.html

one key part:

Witness David Allwas told KABC-TV said the driver of the car was a man in his 70s and it looked like he might be having a heart attack.

"His arm was straight on the wheel and his body was stiff," Allwas said.

Westwood back in the 1980s

by x Thursday, Jul. 17, 2003 at 12:30 PM

Anyone remeber the crazed driver that plowed people down in Westwood? I think this was back in 1986 or something.

car-crazed society

by Meyer London Thursday, Jul. 17, 2003 at 2:19 PM

That kind of tragedy is inevitable in a society without a decent public transit system. It is almost impossible to get around greater LA without a car unless you are willing to do an awful lot of walking - which an elderly person may not be able to do. So a guy in his eighties or perhaps someone decades younger has a heart attack or seizure behind the wheel and perhaps kills more people than many suicide bombers in the Middle East manage to kill.

Don't you wish drudge was as good a reporter now than he was when Clinton was president?? I wonder why he's just not as zealous with the investigations these days. Where's the drudge of the left, so that drudge becomes irrelevant?

Bush's America?

by Nack Thursday, Jul. 17, 2003 at 9:45 PM

This is the kind of stuff that discredits the cause. The old man had a heart attack and it's very sad.

This had nothing to do with Bush and attempting to draw a connection undermines the work of a lot of people and gives the unelected leader leverage against us.

Heart attack?

by Brian OConnor Friday, Jul. 18, 2003 at 6:38 AM

This is a tragedy for all California. Reports from eyewitnesses indicated that the driver 'gunned the engine' everytime he hit a tent or something that obstructed his vehicle. People having heart attacks would not be able to drive straight for over two blocks.

When the driver got out of the car, he asked 'How many people did I hit?' No drugs or alcohol in his system.

The street was due to be re-opened to 'normal' traffic ten minutes after the incident. Maybe someone got impatient?
