I'm archiving this here for future reference and to open up a public area where folks can discuss the changes. Also, don't forget to sign the petition asking KPFK to look at what WBAI does with web streaming (since it's free); KPFK's web streams have become next to useless because too many people are using them and WBAI has a really cool solution KPFK shoudl adopt
Here's the petition for the web streaming

Letter from Program Director Armand Gudiño regarding program
changes effective July 15, 2203:
This is
Armando Gudiño, program director for KPFK. As many of you are aware,
Pacifica and its broadcast stations have undergone many changes in recent
times. Several weeks ago we began a new process of change and growth with
hope of creating and developing a new and stronger KPFK. Today we have
reached that goal. I would like to thank the endless support and
participation of the hundreds if not thousands who contributed in the many
different ways they did. KPFK now moves towards the further
diversification of programming as we do so in the area of political
consciousness, cultural awareness and the empowerment of all communities
that contribute to the well being of humanity. Change is difficult and
growth is even harder. We undertake these challenges for you the audience,
supporter and members of the growing demand for change. As we move forward
we pay homage to those who have contributed to what we call Pacifica. We
thank you for your endless dedication and contributions that now pave the
road others to participate in what many of you have created.
I would
like to ask the audience to join us in our mission to fulfill Lew Hill's
vision of a lasting understanding between nations and the individuals of
all nations, races, creeds and colors. Please log on to www.kpfk.org
and take moment to review our new
programming guide. You will here more of this in the next two weeks
and we welcome your comments at comments@kpfk.org.
Thank You
Armando
Gudiño

It sucks, except for the departure of Radio Nation.

I threw out my TV last year. Since then, I have been on a steady diet of KPFK. I get home from work around 6 and lisiten to the news, then some other interesting talk and then right into music until bedtime. I will probably tune out now during the spanish language portions.
I feel sorry for the people's whose shows were cut. Did anyone hear Heartfelt Music on Saturday? Although I don't really like the music, that guy had a history with KPFK and was crying about the show being gone. Also, on the Root, the DJ said that it was his last show, even though it is on the above schedule.
I don't really think I can complain too much, as I am not involved with the station as a volunteer, but I did give them money.

KPFK got me started, blame them but. Their fair is pap in my opinion. WBAI and KPFA are the ones I listen to. Taking Aim is on WBAI is on in a while and it kicks. Hard. I don't like Eva; She got all huffy and elitist at a public forum after which (because of my disdain full mind energies and a bunch of hate mail-not mine) she had to suck up on a fwarm fuzzy ' get to know me asshole' interview on the feminist show. Blow me Eva.

global villiage is finally only 2 hours, we have public affairs programming back at noon, radio nation and that damned car show are gone... all good. two hours of spanish programming? ok.
now. cancelling shows with "tba" and "rotation" slots available is just rude. moving the dead show to sunday and a great but obscure "spaceways" which worked great on sunday to friday is just plain stupid. love ya, carlos, but you aint my party show.
and, while agreeing no music show should get more than two hours, fidel's show (divine forces) is more than music, and it appeals to an energetic and youthful audience that the station needs for future survival. it needs three hours.
finally, we'll see about this local amatuer programmer deal. and by that i mean we'll see who gets what. i have a feeling some animals will be more equal than others.
wbai and kpfa do have better programming. wish they'd do reporting on la...
