From the Los Angeles Times

by Marcus Sunday, Jun. 29, 2003 at 8:36 AM

A quote from today's article in the LA Times.
"as limousines pulled up to the Century Plaza Hotel. Members of the crowd — a mix of Aztec dancers and anarchists, teenagers and the elderly — waved signs protesting the war in Iraq and the president's tax cut plan."

fresca, welcome to the real world

by sara Sunday, Jun. 29, 2003 at 9:47 AM

fresca, while we all know that you're a biggot that posts from a long way away from Los Angeles, perhaps we should cut you some slack as you might not know. In Los Angeles, there's a giant Latino population, and well over half come from Mexico. Those from Mexico have Aztec blood.

There's a 100+ year history of native American art and symbolism within the social justice and progressive movements. There's nothing unusual about Aztec dancers at this event.

You apparently are not in favor of anything progressive. Too bad.

"You apparently are not in favor of anything progressive. Too bad. "

Beyond the fact that I live in LA, please explain to me the rich progressiveness of the Aztec dancers that you all feel the need to trot out at every gathering.

Well, fresca

by Ignatius Sunday, Jun. 29, 2003 at 8:10 PM

I don't believe you REALLY live in LA, because all your former posts only talk about biggotry, and you have NEVER mentioned seeing any of the Giant Mexicans which, according to the last post, infest LA. I, on la otra mano, HAVE seen them, and let me tell you, they are a sight to behold.
But i do want to know, what is the deal with the frickin' Aztecs? Didn't their empire exist on slavery, endless wars for the sole purpose of sacrificial victims, (with hearts cut out, like the dickweed above would like to do to me, the savage lefty) and oppression of neighbors? Wiped out by a few hundred Spaniards? Those Aztecs?

re: Azteca dancers

by ml Monday, Jun. 30, 2003 at 2:51 PM

Actually, the Azteca dancers trot themselves out, and for the same reason we do - we choose to be seen, we choose to be counted, and each of us decides how we want to be identified. The Azteca dancers practice their Indian culture to keep the best of it alive and in forward movement, like all living cultures do. I was standing a little in front of them near the police barrier on Friday evening, and they contributed greatly to the power of the event. As for the Times article reference, I was glad to read that description, but it could've gone even further - we embodied the combined face of this country by race, age, sex, and even economic class.

"I have defined the Pharmacy boycott to repeal HR 1 S 1"

by buckfush Monday, Jun. 30, 2003 at 10:14 PM

"I have defined the Pharmacy boycott to repeal HR 1 S 1"

Concerning the repeal of HR 1 and S 1 I ask people to boycott CVS Pharmacies and also Eckerd Pharmacies. Eckerd Pharmacies, a Division of JC Penney gives money to the Republican Party. CVS exists in 20 states throughout the country and Eckerd Drugs exists in 49 states. People should boycott CVS and Eckerd Drugs around the country and tell CVS and Eckerd Drugs that they will not buy from CVS or Eckerd Drugs until they can get the Republicans to repeal HR 1 and S 1 and get the Republicans to enact a real prescription drug plan that covers 80 percent of prescription drugs as part of Medicare Part B with no extra premium and no extra deductibles and with no gaps in coverage and with no means testing.

Pass the word to seniors groups and disabled groups as well as people generally

Let the economic civil disobedience BEGIN!!!!!

D.k.

by d.k. IMPEACH the sob Thursday, Jul. 03, 2003 at 12:43 PM

Fresca, you may be laughing I am not.

I am called an old Hooty Howly by a sixteen year old kid who can't believe I bought into the whole Osama, Saddam and wepons of Mass destruction. Hell, I even thought Saddam was involved in 911 and him and the Shieks were dealing tons of weapons to the Saudis.

Yea, didn't know Saudi was a corrupt monarchy supported by us. Didn't have a clue.

Ignoramus is the other word the sixteen year old calls along with Egg Fool Young. Can you believe it, kids see through the whole deception and I swallowed the whole wad, hey, even Lewinsky had more sense than me.

I was sitting in denial, like a full blown alcoholic , I couldn't tell realty from fiction, my head was stuck so far up my asshole I even voted for the sob. Hey, I thought I was going to get a tax break, I get Zip, Zip

The country is in Major Debt and the sob is out saving world on my tax dollars, all his buddies got the break.

this is the real

by native Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at 7:23 PM

aztec dancers are a hoax!
flithy liars who steal native culture
can you say E X P L O I T E R S ! ! ! ! !
mexicans are a real hoot.
they oppress my native brothers in mexico
i mean, i am the lowest class of being there!
not even classified as human!
if any whiteman(mexicano) wishes for land that indians are on, he just takes it .
we are not recognized by the gov. of mexico.
unlike here inthe U S A , where we HAVE RIGHTS!!!!
in mexico= no rights

in USA = Many RIGHTS

now here comes the mexican holdiing his/her ass in thier hands
crying that they " have had THEIR land stolen by the evil GRINGOS"!!!
well let me tell you something
who exactly do you think that they(the mexican/chicano/whiteman with a tan)
stole the land from in the first place???
hmmm?
thats right , from the native people!

can anyone else see the IRONY of this situation?
I am a native american( indigenous person)
who has become very offended at
this pack of lies. this pack of MEXICAN LIES to be exact.
i have heard of the fictious tale of "aztlan"
and it is deeply, truthfully full of a sense of loss, and loss of reality.
for that thing is a LIE built upon more LIES.
this lie is called the Chicano(xicano) movenment.
this why i say all you cihcanos are liars
and exploiters
