Whitney Houston meets Sharon in Israel

by too black - too strong Tuesday, Jun. 10, 2003 at 12:20 AM

Whitney Houston visits Israel with Husband Bobby Brown. They meet with Sharon for a photo op. Houston is in Israel to meet "friends and family" in Israel... members of the "Black Hebrews." The Black Hebrews are around 2000 African Americans who believe they are descendants of one of the "lost tribes of Israelites." Question is... how come African Americans from Chicago and other American cities have more rights to the land of Palestine than do Palestinians?

As new efforts are underway to achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians, it seems Israeli Prime Minister needed a few minutes to relax and cool off last week...

Sharon took some time out from preparations for the summit with his Palestinian counterpart and US President, to meet music diva Whitney Houston and her husband, R&B singer Bobby Brown, who came to Israel on a brief visit.

Pop star, Whitney Houston was in Israel for one week to seek inspiration for her upcoming Christmas album and to visit “friends and family” among a sect called the “Black Hebrews.”

“One of the greatest voices of the 20th century” according to Rolling Stone Magazine, Houston has sold over 120 million albums and signed a five-year contract with Arista Records for a total amount of 0 million.

The Black Hebrews hosted the popular singer’s “inspirational” voyage to the Jewish state, but, undoubtedly, one of the visit’s highlights was when Sharon warmly welcomed Whitney and Bobby in his Jerusalem office.

Sharon asked the famous pop singer about her feelings regarding the visit. Whitney responded with joy, "It’s home. It’s home." Israeli media covered the pop diva’s visit with much enthusiasm, and a picture of her wearing a long traditional red African garb, along with a similarly clothed Bobby Brown alongside the Israeli Premier appeared in nearly all the newspapers.

Whitney, wearing dark sunglasses, expressed her clear excitement, as she vowed to return to Israel many times in the future. “It’s home. It’s a friendship I’ve never had with any other country,” Houston told Sharon, according to Reuters.
