Sammy Sosa is a true hero. In the time that he has been in Baseball, he has donated and given back to his people more than most. His home run battle with Mark Mguire(forgive my spelling if it's wrong,) touched a nation. Stories of his unfortunate upringing and charity work made fans sympathise and companies croon for endorsements.

The same can be said for George Bush. Sadam vanquished, Israel on it's way to peace, Bush is a national icon, politics a national sport like baseball.

But the problems for Sammy and Georgie are starting to emerge.

What does it take to fulfill the "American Dream?" Nowadays, USA Today is reporting the saddest news, what we knew all along, to be all American, may be equated now and forever with cheating.

Many theorists have started long winded articles on why people hate Americans. It doesn't take a PHD to look in the Mirror(pun intended), or in this case USA Today.

As investigations are mounting in intensity in both the U.S. and Brittain over trumped up WMD charges, Sammy Sosa has been accused of using cork in his bat to make home runs.

So the yin and yang, the black hero and the white collar criminal, may end up hanging from the same lying rope.

Of course, now that the media is free to consolidate, we will probably only hear Sosa's tale, instead of the brewhaha that Senator Bob Graham and others are concocting at the CIA.

How unfortunate for the American public, that our government appears to think it's ok to put or, or as Powell puts it, "bullshit," before the international community in order to justify a war.

Whatever good Bush has done with this war will be overshadowed forver by the children dead, the infrastructure ruined, the new terrorist recruits, and the next possible war with Iran.

Just like whatever Sammy Sosa does from now on will be overshadowed by the question of whether or not his bats are fixed.

Sammy swears he made an honest mistake. Bush swears by the evidence he forced the CIA to come up with.

But America, and the American dream of yesterday, has lost it's credibility. From now on every sports fan will wonder how often they are getting duped into paying for seats at the game by cheaters.

And so too, Americans will question every time they pay taxes for a grand slamming of another country.

Frankly, sex scandals are more interesting, and a less shameful mark on our history.

While Sammy may survive this, having such a good reputation, I sincerely hope Bush's career does not.
